Boy oh boy.........we are trying to figure out how to extend our stay due to an unscheduled snafu in our vacation. We don't have any extra points so we were just going to stay on property at a Disney resort. Thank goodness for our DVC because, the sticker shock was well,

I have no idea what we are going to do........

Have you looked at moving to a value resort for whatever extra days you need?

Yes I have. We are a family of 5 so we require two rooms. No suites are available. Our family size was one of the reasons we bought DVC.

Maybe you could get another member to book the extra night for you and see if you can get them linked. You just pay them.

Look on the rent/trade board for distressed points, might be a win/win. An off property timeshare rental might be a good option if you decide to move off site. Good luck, I hope it works out.

You could always use the system to buy one use points direct from DVC. It's not as cheap as renting but it is quick and convenient. :)

Have you thought about using one of the moderate resorts for the extra nights needed?
before we bought DVC we traveled with family and I think POR rooms sleep 5...

This is why I dial up the cost of a cash reservation every so often at Disney's website. ::yes:: It's good to see that DVC is saving us a lot of money compared to what I would have booked.

I second calling MS to inquire about a reservation and buying the 24 points (unless you've already taken advantage of this for this year). Kidani will allow you to put 5 into a 1br - quite doable for just one night. Hit Saana ;)

Sadly, there aren't any distressed points that I can see. I have been keeping an eye out.

The POR is booked too.

It's amazing the things that you go through to make your children happy. It will work out I am sure.

I feel your pain. We are in a similar position and moved our airline tix to give us 2 extra days but we're waiting on getting points from a new contract that just passed ROFR. l am crossing my fingers we can get a room for 2 nights once the points are in our acct or I'll be paying cash too!

Have you tried the Swan or Dolphin? You can have 5 and their rates beat Disney's deluxe hotels and they often have discounts such as AAA, nurse's or teacher's rates, etc.
Good luck in what ever works!

I called and spoke to Disney today. They were able to book 2 standard rooms for us on the nights we needed. I of course will continue to watch for distressed points, but we have somewhere to sleep now. For whatever reason, while I was looking for a room online there wasn't any availability.

It's amazing sometimes the lengths we go to just to make our children happy. :goodvibes

I'm glad you were able to book something! My suggestions was going to be the cabins at Ft. Wilderness. We've stayed there - there are 6 of us - and it was roomy.

We really enjoyed staying at the cabins in Fort Wilderness. Goofydad didn't like the price we would have to pay for the 2 nights. He was all excited about it until he saw the sticker price.

Two value rooms was an acceptable amount for him. I think he likes the idea of two rooms. :thumbsup2

We've also booked 2 rooms at ASMu once....there is something to be said about having a room with a door!

Have a wonderful trip!
