Sticker shock.......really!

We recently purchased 300 at SSR and I just added 150 at AKV which is alot considering there are three of us and my daughter is only 3 years old, so a studio suits us fine.

My wife does not know about the 150 AKV point add on she is away on business and due back tomorrow, I'm hoping the $20 box of wine I've got chilling on the back porch, plus I'm going to tell her they allow you to ride the animals is enough to convince her its okay.

Studio is good now, but wait until you start staying in a one bedroom, then the two bedroom. Its hard to go back to the studio.

And if 450 points works good with Studio use, when you do start booking the larger rooms, you'll be adding on again!

For some reason, my mind did not compute all the points I have together. I know I have 300 OKW points and 170 BCV points, and we just purchased 160 AKV points. My brain only saw it as "470 and now 160" I never bothered to add them together.

I went to DVC member.com and veiwed my contracts.....yearly points allottment.....630!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! Congratulations! I'm not sure if I'm more jealous of the 630 pts. or the idea that you actually have enough time to USE all of them in a yrs. time! We're only 3 ppl so we can get by with a studio - 630 pts. would make for a LOT of trips for us unless we upgraded our unit, and I have no doubt a larger unit would nice... But I think if we had that many we'd most definitely use 'em to cruise!

We have 627 (375 BWV and 252 BCV) and I know exactly how you feel looking at the number and how huge it sounds!

But, I have to tell you, were are in a constant state of borrowing and wish we could have more! In a year or two you will understand what I mean!

We have said we WILL add on if CRV happens, so we could end up with more eventually!

What is great about it, with banking and borrowing, we don't need to go every year, but we can take one heck of a loooong vacation, in spacious accomodations.

With the points we have, i can get out of 'borrow' status, and I have already figured out, once we are caught up to 2009, (unborrowed points), we will use AKV points for Thanksgiving 2009, bank OKW and BCV, and in 2010, take a 15 night trip at BCV in a 2 bedroom.

Upgrading the units is what I am so excited about, we can stay longer in bigger units.

And I thought I was the only one anal enough to be planning that far ahead! LOL! You've topped me by already looking at 2010! Now that you mention the age thing...I will be 92 when our SSR pts. run out!! Hadn't really thought about THAT one! I can see me now on the Rock N' Roller Coaster or Mission Space at 92! I'll have to pay more attn. to those warnings about ppl. with heart conditions won't I?!

We just bought our 250 pts. at SSR in Dec. & I've hinted at the idea of getting a few more pts. at AKV a few times to my DH & he is giving me that LOOK (the one that says "ARE U NUTS")?! I know he's right - but boy does it sound great. We knew AKV was looming ahead but didn't know how much more it would cost so we went ahead with SSR 'cuz we got in on the F & F promo & couldn't beat that price. I'm sure I'll try to convince him again whenever they have another big promo on AKV tho. For now we keep joking that our DS may not have enough $ for college but he'll be able to go to WDW!

Just to double check here & make sure I understand - you can only book the pts. you own at the 11 mo. window, right? So if we only added 100 pts. & need 135 for 7 n. then we couldn't combine those 100 with 35 from SSR & book all of it at 11 mo.?! So if and when we ever DO add on at AKV, the best thing to do would be to wait until we could afford enough to cover the whole length of time that we'd want, right?!

If you added on 100 points and didn't want to borrow, then you'd have to wait. We're buying with the intent to have only very special trips at AKV, the rest of the time, we'll be banking those points. We use VWL points exclusively there and that's what these AKV points will be for, AKV alone! We are more flexible with our BWV and VB points.
