I just read on another site that they are going to close SGE in Jan of 2005 for a rehab. :earseek:

A rehab this soon???
Doesn't make sense. Maybe based on customer satisfaction surveys they feel it needs to be improved.

It went on to say they want to make both the pre show, and main show better. It said that they were going to redo one room at a time. There was talk of adding more stitch AAs, new scent (chille dog would be replaced mint I think), new hieght req., less darkness, no loud noises, and even a new story line. They have 5 million to work with.

wow--is that a fast rehab or what. I had no idea the attraction was getting such negative comments....

It is that bad.

Even if you don't think it's bad, you can not think it is good.

Amen!

Sounds like they're pouring good money into a money pit to me. We got the feeling that the Imagineers didn't know how to end the story, so they just stopped. They need to go back to the story board!

Simply amazing....

They have the most creative people in the world (or used to), and they create a ride almost everyone hates. Didn't these people even bother to ride it? It makes you wonder if they out-sourced the job to Rides-R-Us. We did it on a soft opening, and no one with us even came close to liking it.

At least they have admitted their mistake and will change the ride. There's progress.

We saw this a couple of times last week. I really wanted to love it, but I have to agree with all the other reveiwers. This attraction is just plain boring. Long periods of time pass where nothing (and I mean absolutely NOTHING) happens.

The main show (in the level 3 teleportation room) starts out OK. The Stich animatronic is amazing. I though it was a guy in a costume at first. While Stich is on the podium, the shop is great, but then he escapes and the show becomes almost entirely dependant on 3D sound effects. During this overly long segment of the show, the show tries to be funny (and fails) and it tries to be suspensful (and fails). However, It does succeed wonderfully in being dark and boring. Finally Stich is back on the podeum for a few more entertaining moments, and then its all over and you are left with fond memories of Alien Encounter.

The technology of this attraction is great, its the writing, the pacing and the use of the technology that is all messed up. This had the feel of an attraction that was never fined tuned before it was opened. Hopefully they will get it right the second time. Aoll the peices they need to get it right are there, it just needs love and care

One more thing. If there are any imagineers reading this, I have an admitedly picky compaint. Throughout the show, Stich is constantly reffering to himself by name. Not only does this come accross as forced, but at the point in time the show takes place, Stich has not yet met Lilo, and she is the one who named him Stich in the first place. Its a very minor thing, but for some reason it irritated me to the point where it detracted from my enjoyment of the show.

I just came back too and was mighty disappointed in the attraction. The second half of the show is almost completely dark and very little happening to make you think he is actually loose in the arena. I was actually waiting for it to end. Also not A whole lot differant from alien encounter either just some new smells and gags..

Hmmmm, then maybe I will give it a try on our trip in 2006, if they can get it right this time....we'll see. :scratchin

It's really sad that Ei$ner has managed to suck all the creative juices out of the Imagineers - the sooner he is gone, the better !

I've been accused - and maybe rightfully so - of being a disney apologist on most topics. Not this time. SGE sucked. It's bad. Real bad. Makes Dinorama feel like HH or PoTC. Shut it down, bring in the wrecking ball. I don't care if they turn it into another meet-n-greet.

I did not get to go on SGE, they had a soft opening the night I was there on Oct29 for MickeysNSSHP, but I did not want to wait the 20min. I am glad I left. Were any people complaining about the ride directly to a CM? I hope Disney is full aware of how bad this attraction is.

I've been waiting for this attraction as the whole family loves 626. From what I've heard, it wasn't even worth changing from AE which is quite disappointing. While we never rode AE because it was so bad, we didn't mind its existence since it took people off of the queues for other rides, but we were looking forward to SGE. I hope it's retooled and running for our July visit.

As I said elsewhere, Stitch may not be good but it's no worse than AE was...Just my opinion of course but at least Stitch appeals to a younger, Stitch saavy crowd. AE appealed to...Well, virtually no one.

Please don't make assumptions that AE appealed to no one.

I for one, loved it. It was different for the Magic Kingdom. SGE is bland, dull, boring, and thats only for starters.

Strange how the opening of AE was delayed when Eisner wanted changes made and now Stich may be changed...something about that building I guess.

***"While we never rode AE because it was so bad........."***

Sorry, but that statement is just wrong.

DW and I enjoyed AE. We both hated SGE. We'll never ride it AGAIN because it was so bad.
