Steve Irwin (crocodile hunter) dies..........

I just had an idea... the $7 might include postage. Just a thought.. $7 Australian around $5 US.

Yeah, I wonder how much of the $7 would be going towards the Wildlife Warriors fund.

Just for reference, $7 AUD = $5.22 USD. (ETA...oops I didn't see that you'd all ready posted that, Nutsy..)

Also, on amazon.com they are taking pre-orders for the Steve Irwin Memorial Tribute DVD, which will be released by EMI America on Nov. 14, 2006, with all royalties going to Wildlife Warriors. (It's being released by EMI Music Australia on Oct. 14.)

I emailed the Herald Sun (Australian) newspaper shop asking if the green Wildlife Warrior wristbands would be available for purchase to people from the USA.
I just received this reply:

Thankyou for your email and your interest in the Wildlife Warrior wristbands.

Wildlife Warriors have asked us to advise all customers from the USA, that they are currently trying to arrange a similar wristband promotion through the Discovery Channel across the USA.

If you would like to wait for that promotion, you should be able to purchase the wristband within the USA. Unfortunately, they cannot advise when that promotion will take place.

If you don't wish to wait for the Discovery promotion, you can purchase the wristband from Australia for $7 AUD by either telephone ( 61 3 9292 1234) or by fax (61 3 9292 1272). For security reasons, we do not recommend that you email your credit card details.

Thankyou once again for your support of the Wildlife Warriors and the Herald Sun.

Kind Regards

Herald Sun Shop

This is good news! By trying to arrange this promotion, they are making it easier for people in the US to support Wildlife Warriors and Steve's memory as well as raising awareness about the organization :thumbsup2

Would it be worth contacting the Willife Warriors Website I wonder? Trying to think who else would be worth contacting that might be able to shed some light on it for you guys.

I preordered the DVD. I would love for the bracelets to become available here in the US. Although Terri is smiling, you can see in her eyes (at least it's my perception) that her usual spark is missing. Bless their hearts.

I also pre ordered the video. I still have the memorial service on my Tivo, as I just haven't been able to bring myself to deleating it :guilty: . I also would love to get those Wildlife Warrior braclets! I hope they will be available in the US soon.

Bindi ready to tell her story

BINDI Irwin's star continues to rise, with the eight-year-old giving her own sit-down interviews following the death of her father.

Millions of viewers tuned in last month as Terri Irwin gave exclusive interviews about the death of her husband Steve Irwin, killed by a stingray barb to the chest.

Now it is her daughter's turn, as she returns to the limelight following her 44-year-old father's traumatic death on September 4.

Bindi will appear on ABC's Australian Story next week, talking about life without her hero, the Crocodile Hunter.

The articulate young star, whose public appearance at a TV awards ceremony last night was her first since her father's memorial service, has said she wants to continue Steve Irwin's wildlife legacy.

In her first sit-down interviews since her father's death, Bindi says animals do not scare her.

"Some people think I would be afraid of them, but I'm never afraid of an animal," she says.

"I just get excited and some that are dangerous I just think oooh! What's going to happen. Things like that."

Bindi's fighting spirit is captured by the program, as she resumes work on her Discovery Channel show, Bindi The Jungle Girl.

Irwin manager John Stainton responds to concerns that Bindi Irwin is too young to be exposed to such attention, telling the program: "I think they (the critics) don't understand that this little girl is very much enjoying what she's doing.

"She is in control."

Australian Story goes behind the scenes of the last six weeks, screening unbroadcast material from Bindi's new program and footage captured during Mr Irwin's memorial service, when his daughter spoke confidently of her wish to continue his work.

A final interview with Bindi, for the program, is expected to be finished by Saturday.

Bindi is so grown for her age. I don't believe Terri would ever push or let her to do something she didn't want to do.

Terri looks good in the picture above but looks like she's lost alot of weight. I feel so sorry for her.

I agree with all of the above. Terri looks like she has shrunk in the last month. A dear friend of mine that lost her daughter was the same way. There were some days that she just looked "small" to me.

I just found out that we can only purchase one wristband per coupon... so if we want to buy more than the one wristband we have to buy more newspapers to get the coupons.:(

That's not fair, as I'm sure there will be families out there with children who would like a wristband each. Proceeds would still go to the Wildlife Warriors. For me personally it's ok.. as we will make do wtih the one, my kids are older so they don't want their own anyway... but there will be those who have younger children who are going to be wanting their own wristbands tho.

I know Bindi is in control, makes her own decisions and is an amazing kid and all. But, she is an eight year old kid. How can she be that pulled together at EIGHT?? :confused3

lucas.. I hear what you're saying and believe me there are a lot who would agree with you... but those closet to her seem to think she's fine and coping well. Yes, she is a mature eight year old, but is still an eight year old, she is not an adult and yes, she has been in the public eye from the moment she was born and yes, she's had an unusual upbginging, being raised at a Zoo. BUT.... I personally think some of the things she is doing is just too much.

The Nicolodeon thing was fine.. that was a lot of fun and Steve was to be the presenter for that and Bindi ended up doing it on his behalf.. Her words were that she was doing it because her Dad couldn't be there. Plus that was loads of fun.

See if you can open that one folks... that is the full interview.. 51 mins of it.
I finally watched the whole Ray Martin’s interview with Terri and I have to say that it was highly superior to Barbara Walters’. Terri was more comfortable with Ray and because of that I think she generously shared what was in her heart. I felt this interview was more upbeat and encouraging than Barbara’s.

I know I said this before but Steve’s relationship with his family makes me want to be a better husband, dad, & person in general. We all need to start living life to it’s fullest. I’m making it my personal goal to be “fair dinkum” like Steve was. ;)

Nutsy-
Do you remember when Ray asked Terri about when the Prime Minister and Russell Crowe spoke at the memorial and then he asked what Steve would have thought of that? Terri said Steve would have said: “Bute bonza. What a ripper.” (That’s what it sounded like to me.) What does that mean?

Thanks for the reply Nutsy. I was afraid someone would take what I wrote the wrong way. It is just amazing to me how strong they all are. I don't think even Steve would have been able to handle it, if things were reversed - he was so sensitive.

Sorry, but the 2 links to the Nicolodeon sliming won't open for me.

Beaut Bonza..what a ripper......Beaut means something is great or fantastic.. Bonza means much the same.

What a Ripper... that virtually means great too... so what a ripper.. what a great occasion.

Beaut Bonza, What a Ripper.... he would have been speechless......... very happy, it was just great, great, great.

Can't say as I blame them. It should help slow down the number of people who buy them with intention to turn around and sell them on Ebay for a profit.

She's in control, says Bindi's grandfather

BINDI IRWIN'S grandfather has backed her controversial foray into show business, saying the eight-year-old will have a "really big career".

Amid criticisms that too much pressure is being placed on the youngster to follow in the footsteps of her late father, Steve Irwin, Bob Irwin said Bindi was a "real professional" who enjoyed the spotlight.

He also backed his son's long-time friend and manager, John Stainton, who has come under fire for saying Bindi will be more famous than her Crocodile Hunter father.

"John Stainton isn't only a friend of mine, he's the person that I would like to guide Bindi through the rest of her career," Mr Irwin told ABC TV's Australian Story.

"And I think she's going to have a really, really big career. John will work closely with [Bindi's mother] Terri and I think with the two of them it will be a perfect match."

Bindi urged people not to be afraid of animals because they were "put on this earth to help the environment".

"I'm never, ever afraid of an animal," she said.

Mr Stainton denied that Bindi was being pushed into show business against her will. "I think they [the critics] don't understand that this little girl is very much enjoying what she's doing. She is in control," he said. "And I think the sort of psychologist or psychiatrists or child counsellors or whatever that jumped on the bandwagon and said that it was harmful to her don't understand the situation whatsoever."

Mr Stainton said Bindi would never be exposed to animals that could hurt her. "We have to be always mindful of that because things can backfire on us, like the baby Bob incident," he said, referring to a time when Steve Irwin was caught on film holding his baby son close to a crocodile at Australia Zoo.

I just wanted to thank everyone for continuing to post the updates! :thumbsup2
