Sterilize Bottles? AoA LM room

I only used bottles with one of my kids (after a couple months of nursing, second self weaned sometime after first birthday), and used to be out shopping and wash the bottle in the bathroom sink even. Used powder formula, and ice water if we were at a restaurant (we lived in Hawaii so and it never occurred to me to warm his formula). Breasts aren't sterile, so unless the child has an immune problem it's a waste.

I am sorry, don't mean to start a debate, but I traveled a ton with my first as an infant, and the less crap you really need the better! It gets to be a lot. Best thing we traveled with was always a good lightweight stroller that reclined completely that they could sleep in.

Since our doctor asked us to sterilize bottles and used boiled water, I did.

I also heated his bottles for the first few months. He was breast fed, and milk from the breast is warm. I didn't want to shock him with ice water.

People wonder why there seem to be Mommy Wars. And topics like this is why. Rather than just telling someone how to sterilize bottles while at Disney, they go into reasons why what they are doing is "a waste."

Let's not judge how the baby is being fed. Those parents are doing what makes sense for them, for whatever reason, and there is no reason to get upset about the thing they are doing, as it lacks any negative outcomes and the only people they are inconveniencing if it's not necessary are themselves.

It's not like they're giving a 3 month old Mountain Dew or something that really deserves judginess.

Please?

The only thing I was attempting to mention was, just in case OP wasn't sure, was to ask the family to be sure they sterilize bottles still. I wasn't sure if OP just assumed they did or knows for sure they do. That's all I was mentioning. If they know for sure they do, they've got some ideas. If they are just assuming, they may want to ask. It's possible they don't even need to worry about it.
