Hi everyone! I'm going to be going with my mom in May and she has mobility issues. She can walk at times but we are getting her an ecv. I was wondering what if any rides have stairs. She can not do stairs because she loses her balance easily. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Yes there are some rides with stairs. A CM will show you to an alternative entrance if you cannot do stairs.

Toy Story Mania at HS
Splash Mountain at MK

Are the two I remember but there may be others

She can ride her ECV right through most lines. If there's a problem then a cast member will direct her to an alternate line. Obviously, an ECV can't do stairs, so anywhere an ECV can go, your mom won't have to deal with stairs. WDW is very handicap friendly.

If she wants to stretch her legs a bit she can just park the ECV near the strollers and take the key.

Note that the peoplemover and Peter Pan both have moving walkways that must be used as part of the boarding/de boarding processes. They cannot be stopped and you cannot take an ECV on the walkway. Spaceship Earth is similar.

Steve I have been allowed to take a powered wheelchair up to the moving ramp and then they stopped the ramp an I was allowed to drive up to the vehicle and transfer to it. This was allowed when I had a cast and was non weight bearing but I do not ask for this now as I can walk the few feet to the moving ramp and then they stop it for me so I do not trip.

Peoplemover and Peter Pan cannot be stopped so you must be able to deal with the moving ramp.

Thanks, talking hands. I've had a decidedly different experience over the years. While not in a cast, it is very apparent I have some mobility issues.

Post 28 on page 2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread has information about attractions with stairs. Here is a link yo page 2

There are some attractions that are wheelchair accessible, but not ECV accessible. In those cases, you can switch to an attraction wheelchair for the line.
Spaceship Earth is one of those where it is wheelchair accessible, but not ECV accessible. It is a fairly steep ramp, so allowing a power wheelchair all the way to the boarding area may not be possible either all power wheelchairs. I have not personally ever seen an ECV (Or even a power wheelchair) up there.

Also something to take into account a CM needs to be able to remove the ECV or wheelchair from the turntable before they can start the ride again.

Thanks everyone! Mom does plan on walking through the ques. She needs the ecv for all the walking between attractions. My next question is should we get a dac for her explaining that she can not use stairs or just explain to the cast members at each attraction that has stairs? Also does anyone have a recommendation on where to rent a ecv?

You will just explain at each attraction that she can't handle steps or stairs. The CM will tell you where to go. :)

Also, she might want the ECV in some queues - Soarin's is quite long, I think I've seen it said to be a quarter-mile each way? A few others are long too.

I rented from Apple Scooters on my last trip and while the scooter looked beaten up, it operated perfectly and I had no battery issues even when doing 16-hour park days. All of Disney's "preferred providers" have pretty good reviews, but they've also all got some bad ones, kind of like the resorts and restaurants. :)

While under the old GAC you would get one to indicate no stairs, you do not get a DAS for this. At the attraction you'll tell the CM that she can't climb stairs and ask which way you should go.

Keep in mind that some of the queues are very long. She may want to stay in her ECV for those ones.
