We have finally closed. It seems like and eternity since we decided to buy.

What now? :rotfl:

We want to go this December for a family reunion and we are excited to get the planning ball rolling.

My father has done the main purchasing paper work so I have been left in the shadows on how this whole thing works.

We really want to get things rolling as soon as possible.

What is the next step?

I am thinking that some how we get a member number and then with that I make the phone call to make try to get the dates we want. We have been warned that we will most likely have to wait list. How does the member number come if that is the next step?

While wait listing do we make definite reservations at another DVC like Boardwalk? How do we know if an opening occurs on the wait list? Do they call us, do we call every day to check, do we check the list over the internet or what?

Sorry for all the newbie questions but someday I promise to be helpful to some other poor newbie soul! :goodvibes :woohoo:

Actually not as far along as your dad. I'm still waiting for ROFR. But, if your dad named you as an associate member on his DVD closing paperwork, you will be able to use the member # (when you get it - and after the points are added to your account, which can take several more days) to make reservations or get on waitlists. If you are NOT named as an associate, someone whose name is on the membership roll for your contract has to make all the calls to member services.

There are lots of threads on the first three DVC boards. If you look through the topics, you will find answers to many of your questions. Lots of us have lurked here for awhile, reading through the threads to help with questions just like yours. Good luck, and hope you enjoy it. (In my case, I'm the dad, and both my grown sons will be listed as associate members, if/when my contract goes to closing.)

Thanks for your response!:yay:

I am listed as a co-owner (I guess). My dad is in FL and I am in OH so I have been signing papers and faxing them but I really do not have the nitty gritty on how all this works.

My dad had always relied on me to do all the planning and is expecting this now too! :lmao: The problem is I have no idea what I am doing now! :confused3 :rotfl:

I know we have until May to "rebank" some points from last year so we can use them for this big reunion.

I have tried looking through the threads but I get frustrated when trying to use the search features here. I don't think "SEARCH" like me very well! :happytv:

How does the member number come to you?

Dec 08 could be tough. You might be able to get SSR or OKW, but it could still be very tough. When in Dec were you planning on going?

We are planning on the 7th thru the 12th or there abouts.

My dad wants a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom.

I think our second choice is going to be BWV but my dad really wants BCV.

How does the member number come to you?

The member number will be sent with your DVC package. We are also co-owners with MIL and all the member numbers were sent to one address. If you Dad's address is where all the other documents were sent to, the member numbers may have been sent to him with the annual planner.

Also, you can't rebank points, I think you mean bank. You can bank one year, use a year and borrow a year. So you can use 3 years worth in the middle year.

We just joined last month so I don't know all the answers but I think that you can call Member services as soon as you have sent in your down payment to book a stay. They look up your number I think. As long as you are within 11 mo. at your home resort or 7 mo. at others.
