Since all of us live all around the state of Florida, we were all to meet at the hotel between 4-6. This year we couldnt stay on Disney property, with their being 8 poor college kids going. So we found the Lake Suites on 195, which very for a VERY reasonable price, slept all of 8 of us. Plus the hotel is BEAUTIFUL.
So.. Jessica and I were coming from Bradenton, FL. Nicole and Cody were coming from Palm Harbor, FL. Josh was driving to Tampa, from Gainesville, to meet Brian, to ride together. Michelle was driving from Winter Haven, and Emily was coming up from Bradenton when she got off work. Got it? Ok.
The plan was to leave Bradenton at 1:30pm. But, I overslept, and we didnt get on the road till 3:30pm. Yay, Rushhour traffic on I-4. Wrong. I was smart and took SR64 to 27 to I-4. So we had no traffic, other than scary semis we had to go around on a two-lane road. Not to mention you drive through scenic towns like Ohna. With their two gas stations and one stoplight. Yay! Rural!
So at about 5 oclock, were on the outskirts of Haines City, and it starts to rain Buckets. The only way it can in beautiful sunny florida. So for another HOUR its pouring rain and I cant see anything and cars are driving by me on the opposite side of the road, pushing tidal waves of water on my windshield and im seriously concerned were not gonna get there alive. Then everyone starts calling me, telling me theyre stuck on I-4. The trip is off to a dismal start.
So we finally get out of the downpour, and make onto I-4, and finally to 195 and finally to the hotel. Which is really nice. Our room is a bi-level suite, with a kitchen, and the plan was to have a pirate feast, and then dress up like pirates and pillage Downtown Disney.
So once I got there, the drinking began, and the pirate talk ensued.
I got started on Dinner. I made Carribbean Chicken (ginger snap chicken) on a bed of pineapple rice, with vegetables and corn on the cob. It was Delicious. (seriously, everyone told me)
(ignore the electric razor, it wasnt apart of the meal.)
Then we got on our way to Downtown Disney.
Upon arriving we were welcomed by hoards of loud high schoolers, who were thrilled to see pirates. We began pillaging and plundering immediately.
(this is the new animatronic pirate they have in the boys room at the world of Disney)
The night was a success, as we sang Yo Ho and had a merry time at DTD, before going back to the hotel. (which only took us an hour, because I got lost, due to INSANE amounts of construction on I-4.
Then we all drank Coconut Rum and fell asleep in a Pirate Slumber. Too bad we had to awake at 5am!
More to come
