Steiner in the spas

I was dismayed when I saw that Steiner ran the spas on DSL because my past experience with them on other lines has not been good.

In particular, one appt. I paid for an hour massage, she came 15 min late and spent the last 10 min. hawking her products. I was just not in the mood at the time to take up the fight with her supervisor, now I could kick myself for not bringing my unhappiness to their attention.

I just made a personal oath not to give Steiner any of my time or money again.

Anyone else have a particularly good/bad experience?

Did they take time out of your treatment to give you the hard sell on their overpriced goop and beauty creams?

My DH had a full body massage on the Magic in March. He said that it was a full hour with very little hawking of products. He did buy the massage oil, but only because his shoulder gets sore sometimes.

I had a facial, it was very relaxing. She didn't really force her product on me, in fact when I said I would buy it she seemed shocked! Now if I could only remember if the mask goes first or the scrub.:D

We spend a LOT of time in the spa on our many cruises, and overall we have been very happy with them. We've had sales pitches, but never a major hard sell. We use some of the Steiner products (I love the fruit active face mask, hubby loves the bath salts, and we both use the refreshing gel). But if you are not interested, don't be shy about saying so. I don't recall being shorted on treatment time, although I'm usually so relaxed when I wobble out of there that I barely know what time or day it is! I love the Absolute Face & Body and the seaweed wrap...I never miss those two.

I had the Absolute Face and Body treatment and LOVED IT! (Thanks for the advice, Barb!):) I believe I got every minute I had coming to me. Kylie did bring in a couple of products that she thought may be of some use to me. I told her very politely that I appreciated the offer but I just wouldn't use them, and she simply said, "Fair enough". End of selling session. I was prepared for a bit more pushing, but it never came. (much to my relief):D
I would LOVE to get my hands on that mud that they give you in the Surial Bath! If they had tried to sell me that, I would have bought it in a minute!

BTW, is the water on the ship soft because it's filtered saltwater? My skin was so soft for about a week after I got off the ship. I hadn't noticed that the water was particularly soft, but then I just thought it must be that.
Now my skin is back to the dry, yucky, gotta put lots of lotion on, stuff.

I was very pleased with the Spa and Spa Staff on the Wonder!

I got a pedicure on the Wonder last week and there was no hard sell involved. The lady did show me three different packages of lotions and gels but when I refused she didn't push them any further. I did end up buying some bath scrub for my feet but it wasn't even a product that she tried to get me to buy. I just liked the way it felt on my feet when she used it and it smelled "pretty" too :)
