Steamer Trunk

We're in 5522 and 5524 so this thread was useful for us anyway.. on the steamer trunk issue. LOL Thanks for posting it!

I have a question though- if you DON'T have a steamer trunk- don't they have other places you can put clothing? Do they not have dressers at all to store clothing or a closet or something?

I am also curious about this. We have SPR 5020 which I understand does not have one, and am concerned about the storage issue as we will be on a 10-night cruise and will likely have lots of stuff.

No, that is not true. Someone posted that 2142 doesn't have the steamer trunk. I checked the deck plan, and it shows that the walls in 2142 definitely do jog in and out. So that is not an accurate way to tell whether or not a room has the steamer trunk.

Does anyone have a list of which rooms do and do not have the steamer trunk? I'm really curious to find out if my room has it.
I'll change my wording slightly.

The staterooms with walls that jog in and out are supposed to have steamer trunks. The reason that the wall jogs in and out is provide niches for a steamer trunk in both staterooms that share that wall. There is no other reason that the walls jog in and out.

It's possible that a stateroom could be missing its steamer trunk, just as a stateroom room could be missing its coffee table or its padded stool. In that case, there would be an empty niche where the steamer trunk should be. That could be temporary, while that piece of furniture is repaired.

Each Disney ship has 875 staterooms. I doubt anyone maintains a list of which staterooms do and do not have a steamer trunk, or that such lists would be kept up-to-date to reflect furniture repair.

In the absence of such lists, I stand by my suggestion to check the deck plan. Unless the deck plan is wrong, or unless a piece of furniture is temporarily missing, a niche in one wall of a category 5 through 10 stateroom indicates a space for a steamer trunk.

There's a reasonably large closet with hanging space, shelves, and drawers across from the split bathrooms; there are small drawers in the night stands; and there are drawers in desk opposite the sofa.

If your luggage fits under the bed, you can store it there — but it doesn't have to be empty. You can keep winter coats or other things that you'll seldom or never need in that luggage.

Finally, on 10-night cruise, I would plan on sending some garments out for cleaning and/or using the laundry room during the cruise.

We love the sideways staterooms! We have a sideways Cat 11 on Deck 5 on our upcoming May cruise on the Magic, but I am not sure if it has a steamer trunk.
We were in 5513 before and it did have a steamer trunk. :sail:

lunsusie, aren't the Sideways Cat 6s wonderful? With the steamer trunk and the layout they seem much more spacious than the regular Cat 6 cabins.

What is a "sideways cat 6"? We had a CAT 6 room, but I don't know if it was sideways :confused3

I think sideways means turned and the room is parallel with the length of the ship- while most cabins are the way that each end points TOWARDS the sides of the ship. Clear as mud huh? LOL

We have been in 2544 twice - no steamer trunk. We are in 2546 this cruise b/c 2544 was already taken - does anyone know if that has a steamer trunk in it?

I don't believe there are any sideway cat 6!! I think only cat 11 and cat 10.

Thanks, that sounds like it will probably be enough for DH and I and our teen (since he is a boy, if we were bringing DD we would need another room for all her stuff ;) ). I don't want to spend every third day doing laundry, but I do plan on doing some once and possibly send a few things out.

One thing I brought with me that really helped was one of those folding hanging shelfs that attaches around the closet rod. I put it in the closet next to the safe. It was great for shoes, hats and night clothes.

We are staying on the Wonder Rm 2570, does anyone know if this room has a trunk as I find it very handy.

Thanks.

Cash and I were in a BAV Cat. 5 and it had a steamer trunk, thank goodness!

Lynda - What is a BAV cat 5?

Big A** Verandah (been called that for years!) It's #7136, one of the aft accessible staterooms. #6154, also a BAV, does not have one.

DH and I were in 6634 with a steamer trunk. MY DH put all of his things in there and it worked very slick. We still had space left over.

My parents stayed in Room 2000 and it does not have a steamer trunk, Room 2002 DOES have a steamer trunk.
