I just went to DTD for dinner. When I parked there, I had a cute Tinkerbell cling and one of those magnetic ribbon things that said "Support Our Troops" on the back of my car. When I came back after dinner, they were both gone. Someone had already stolen my pink breast cancer magnetic ribbon. Why do people get such a kick out of stealing from others? You know they probably don't really want the things. It is just something to do. I just don't get it.

I'm saying that more and more these days. I must be getting old. I just don't understand people any more.

I've had my antenna balls stolen so I finally quit putting them on. :(

GRRRR its THE most annoying thing!! Stole my breast cancer ribbon, I was steamed!

I don't get it either. Someone stole my antenna! Cost me $30 to replace. It isn't like they could use it or anything. I guess I'm getting old too because I don't get it either!

I have an infant and pregnancy loss ribbon that I just got for my car a week ago. I expect every time I return to my car to find it gone. But, I have had my Minnie antenna topper on for several months, so maybe I won[t have that problem!

I've had my red, white and blue Mickey ball stolen--at the zoo of all places--"hey look kids, while I steal something off of someone else's car." And DH noticed one day that his truck (not his company vehicle, but the one he has for weekends/evenings) was missing all 4 valve stem covers and the onstar antenna.

My sister left her car unlocked one night last fall and was lucky it was still there the next morning, BUT someone still got into it and stole the ash tray. My sis doesn't smoke so she doesn't use it, but we believe whoever took it was looking for spare change. Even though there wasn't change in the car, the thief still saw fit to take the ash tray. Right; makes a lot of sense. My oldest son gave her a replacement for Christmas so she wouldn't have a big empty space in the car if she ever sells it or trades it in, and the replacement cost $60, a lot more than a handful of change the thief didn't get. :confused3

I have had had some sort of Disney antennea (I hate spelling that word) topper on my car since I was here on vacation in 2003 - even had one on my rental car on that vacation, and wouldn't you know it on our last day at MK (St Pat's Day) someone stole it.... it was the one with the green goofy hat - so I guess someone wanted it for a St Pat's Day souvenier! Just recently - AGAIN at MK someone stole my gold Happiest Celebration Mickey Head...... geesh - they are ONLy $4.00, couldn't they have bought one in the park?

I still keep one on my car, but try and remember to take it off at the parks!

What is this world coming too?

I will tell you I was in shock when we looked at new cars last year because when we bought our new Mercedes the guy said we will give you important info when you pick it up .
Well I didnt know my Dh bought it for me till I go the call that it was ready for pick up ( nice Dh I know :) ) When he was walking me around the car he told me little things about all the bells and whistles and then when he got to the front of the car he pointed at the hood ornament and said " That is 50 bucks when you come to replace it " I asked him if they came of easy and he said no people steal them all day long .

FYI regarding the stolen car doors in the Washington Post article - this exact thing happened to the parents of an acquaintance of mine while they were on a visit to Ft. Lauderdale about 5 years ago, and the car the door was stolen from was a top-of-the-line Cadillac.

My daughter returned to college Tuesday night after Christmas break. The next day she discovered her cark broken into and the CD/stereo player missing. The dash and console were messed up pretty badly as well. :guilty:

Another car was broken into as well and the window smashed, stereo stolen.

So much for paying $60.00 each month extra to park in the supposedly more secure parking lot behind the apartment complexes.

Both my parents had hood ornaments stolen from them probably 10 or so years ago off Mercedes
I had 3 Support Our Troops magnets stolen off my truck a year ago. Yup, 3. One (thankfully the last) was recovered, because I saw the kid grab it; the rest were not.

I gave my BF a POTC topper which he wont put on because he said some crack head might come by and steal it. Dont blame him.

The worst thing someone ever stole off my car was the top of my car. Yes, the top of my car. My first car was a Susuki Samauri, soft top. While it was in a parking lot at a local college someone came by and unzipped it and took it home. I couldn't believe it. What a shock to come out and only find half your car still there. It totally stunk. What kind of jerk would do that. I always assumed it was someone with the same kind of car who ruined their own and was just waiting for their chance to get a new one. My loss I guess. How can someone think its ok to take the top of my car??? Cost me some $$$$ to replace it.

Sorry, but you're lucky it was just those cheap things. "Midnight Auto Parts" thieves are becoming very common. I know somebody who had five things taken in one night. Car parts, not extras.

If I had a POTC topper it would definitely be taken. The school I sub at most of the time is the Pirates. One of the kids would take it for sure.

My friend got tired of her antenna balls getting stolen so she super glued her Mike W (from Monsters Inc) one onto her antenna! Someone STILL tried to steal it and managed to rip his legs off so now she has a Mike body on her antenna. :rotfl:

I have had all 4 hubcaps stolen off my car at the mall.

My current car doesn't have an antenna, so no topper for me! Besides, DH says they create wind drag that causes undue stress on the antenna when the car is moving, and after awhile the antenna will snap off. He speaks from experience.

I have valve stem covers on my tires that measure the air pressure. If the tire is leaking air the cover will show red instead of green. DS was commenting the other day that he can't believe nobody has stolen those, and I have to agree! They are called Tire Xam or something. Supposedly we have an extra tire warranty through that system. :confused3

I have never had a car with a hood ornament, but I remember when I was growing up my mom had at least one. Those suckers are held down by a really thick piece of wire - you would need a pair of bolt cutters to snap it off! I am quite certain the type of people who steal them are also the type of people who carry things like bolt cutters...

I had the front hood ornament broken off the front of my Oldsmobile a long time ago...
I did lose my Support the Troops magnet in the car wash the other day.... I'm going out to buy another one!
