We're coming to Disney end of August with two kids DS17 and DD13. Yesterday was my ADR date. Got our desired 3 selections. Since I was seeing availability, I booked 2 additional spontaneous ADRs that I wasn't planning, but might be nice to add. For cost reasons, I don't think we'll keep both. Added:
  • Steakhouse 71 dinner (arrival day, staying at Contemporary)
  • Space 220 lunch
For some context....

Our flight lands 1ish. Not exactly sure what we will do first day but we aren't doing a park. DH wants to go to Disney Springs that afternoon (kids are NOT pleased with that). Our booking is 7:30pm so it's not too early whatever we decide. (Wanted about 1hr earlier but not available)

Space 220 looks like cool theming but it's pricey for what you get. Also a bit worried of coordinating Lightning Lane rides with ADR but others have said they will move LL if conflicts. On the good side, it will give us a break from the heat.

Thoughts?

Throwing in my $.02. While I enjoy Steakhouse 71, if you end up at Disney Springs I think there's a lot of yumminess to be had there! (Homecomin', Polite Pig, etc.) On the flipside, I think it's fun to dine in your hotel on arrival day too - cuts down on additional travel after a day of travel. Never tried Space 220, however, much like Disney Springs, I think EPCOT may have better eats with a/c at a fraction of the cost - however - if your family is into the Space vibe....there you go! Have an awesome trip!! (P.S. We have Space 220 booked for the end of August and I'm pretty sure it's going to take a coin flip to decide if we keep it!)

What + day did you managed to get space?

I failed earlier on +4.

I think it looks amazing and worth at least one visit.

Thanks for the comments. I don't want to pre-book anything at Disney Springs in case we don't end up going there...but could do QS or check last minute for any TS openings if we do.

I did look at Epcot restaurants and only appealing one was Via Napoli...but we can go to an Italian restaurant at our home so didn't seem worth it. If we did Space, it would be for the theme. I know the lounge is one way to experience it without the cost but we got the ADR for the actual restaurant. Lol...sounds like you have the same dilemma with Space..and same timeframe.

I was able to get it for 60+6 for 12:45pm....which is perfect timing.
Good luck...hopefully someone will drop their reservation and you can grab it.

I would go with Space220. We were there in November and really enjoyed it. We were about 15-20 minutes late to our ADR due to a LL where we waited a half hour to get on to TT and then in the middle I’d the ride it broke down for 10 minutes and they took us without an issue.

A lot of the Disney Springs places are on Open Table and most do not require the credit card in case of a no-show (Raglan Road seems to require that more often than not).

Steakhouse 71. For a WDW steakhouse it is fairly reasonable. Space 220 is about $70 each at night.

Thanks...definitely not comparing apples to apples and both have their own pros/cons.

I should mention too that DH and I don't eat meat, but Steakhouse 71 seems to have a fish option and also a vegetarian option (has anyone tried those options?). Our kids do eat meat though and like steak, fries, French onion soup, Caesar salad etc. so they would quite enjoy.

Seems like a mix of responses. Both have pros/cons
Space - really cool different atmosphere, easy way to get a break from the sun at the hottest time of day, but pricey at $55 for just an appetizer and entrée (dessert not included a lunch), may interfere with LLs (but seems they are flexible as some have said)

Steakhouse 71 - food looks good, nice to start our trip in our own hotel (our last meal is at Chef Mickey's so ending at our hotel too). On the con side...time is a bit late at 7:30pm as we'll want to go to bed decent time to start our run of early mornings when hitting the park, cost will add up too but probably more bang for our buck

PS - Touring Plans is awesome! Just got a notification that an earlier time was available for Steakhouse. What a great service (and thanks to this forum as I never would have known TP had a notification service)

We've done both. Given the choice of where we return, we'll do SH71 before we'll do 220 again. 220 just was a bit underwhelming for us - just our opinion. SH71 dining was surprisingly good.
