Aloha,

I am now officially worried about my dinner reservation at Steakhouse 55 next Sunday. It previously enjoyed the reputation of an outstanding steakhouse. However, it appears not to be the case anymore. For those of y'all who have dinned there recently, could you please advise if Steakhouse 55 is still worth it or should I cancel and plan something else?

I ate there with my wife on the week of the 22nd of May.

It was just as fabulous as when I ate their the first time in 2014, and only helped to cement Steakhouse 55 as my favorite restaurant in the world.

I thoroughly encourage you to go.

When I ate there last year, it was fantastic. Please don't cancel your reservations because of negative reviews you've seen. You have to remember that some people are impossible to please and *every* place will have some negative reviews if visited enough.

We go there every trip--last time was in March--and have *never* had a bad experience. Kids love it. Grandparents love it. We love it. We have 2-hour meals there.

I'm also one of those people who isn't uncomfortable announcing what I/we want, though. Which means that if the service is too fast, I ask them to slow it down (a problem in most DLR restaurants). If the meat isn't cooked as we like it, we politely ask a server to have it cooked more, etc.

I don't expect that a restaurant will read my/our mind(s). I just expect that it will respond to our requests. And have fabulous food--which Steakhouse 55 most definitely does.

Agree with the others! Don't cancel!! We dined at 55 multiple times last year in July, August and Sept and had wonderful experiences each time! Dining there 2X's next month!!! Can't wait!!!

We've found that the better the communication with the staff, the better our experience. Servers want to know exactly what you want and need, so don't be afraid to let them know.

The food was fantastic when we went in November, but the service was another matter entirely. We had a 17:30 reservations, had just an entree and I nearly missed World of Color as everything took so long.

Steakhouse 55 isn't the best steakhouse in Anaheim, but it is one of the two or three best restaurants onsite. I ate there about two weeks ago and it was the same as it is ever is. So it depends on what you are looking for. Do you want the best steak possible in Anaheim or do you want an experience onsite with Disney touches?

My experience there was "meh." My service was pretty bad, but I liked the food enough. I am wanting to give it another chance.

We've had great servers and great food, love it and go every trip (though this time our last minute planning has taken us out of our comfort zone and we will be trying brunch this time. ;) ). Last time we went was early Sept 2014!

The steak at Steakhouse 55 isn't as good a cut of beef, and maybe not as exactly prepared, as you would get for similar price in high-end steakhouses. It's not jar, or Boa or STK in L.A. And the service sure ain't Musso and Frank.

But, it is a solidly good steakhouse and it's at the resort. I really don't know anything about other steakhouses in Anaheim but let's face it, unlike Orlando, L.A./O.C. has no shortage of great gastro-competition to Disney.

It is our go to location. We've had bad service once, but otherwise, it has been great. Back in January, we commented to Chef Marcel we didn't care for the pancakes at breakfast. So, when we were there in April for dinner, he brings out a plate of pancakes! He tried them, they tossed the old recipe and the new recipe is GREAT! It was fun watching as other guests were curious about our plate of pancakes!! Chef asked for my daughter's approval.

Other high end steakhouse options in Anaheim (reasonably close to DLR) include: Ruth's Chris, Mortons, the Ranch, etc.

We were there in December and it wasn't our favorite this time which made me sad also because we had really like it before. I don't know that it was so much of a "food not being good" issue, but more than "just not our type of food". We really liked the sides the last chief offered, the ones that were there now just wasn't what we liked. I'm not a meat eater so it was really off for me but for those that ate the steak they said the meat was just fine, it was more of an issue of the sides just not being what we like. On the other hand, I wasn't really excited about going to BB (we were going more for fantasmic! seating) but I was very pleased with the meal. We will probably go back to BB next time and maybe try something else instead of Steakhouse 55.

We ate there two weeks ago approx.
We ate there for the first time about two years ago and it was superb. Meal, service, everything was A+.
So we were excited about eating there for our trip this time. We could only get a later meal time as everything was booked. We ate at 8pm which meant we would have to let go of our World of Color showing. The family voted to eat there that it was more important to us.
The food the first time was top notch and maybe the best I've had (I've been to a few high end places). This time the food was ok to good but not great. The service was exactly the same. Good but not incredible like the first time. We ended up paying for 3 steaks, sides, drinks, and a dessert to share and the bill was over $200. I wish I had the money back as it wasn't worth it for this go around. Maybe it was the later reservation or maybe it really wasn't as good this time around. Not sure. It wasn't horrible or bad just not the A+ it was the first time. Not sure if this helps but that's my report.

The Ranch.

Morton's, Ruth's Chris and Manhattan are all solid, prime beef choices as well.

Mastro's at South Coast Plaza is a contender for best steakhouse in OC right next to the Ranch.
