Returned Last Week and my DH ate a lot of steak. Here is his ranking

Terriyaki steak at Kona Cafe: Acceptable, he wasn't too impressed and wouldn't order it again. Kona needs to "take it up a notch" on their food quailty. Then again, this was the cheapest steak he ate all week. ($21.99)

Le Cellier mushroom filet mignon: In our opinion, Le Cellier has the best steak on property for the price ($27.99)

Flying Fish Char Crusted New York Strip ($38) - Excellent steak, excellent preparation. The char crust and sauce were just not his preferred preperation. But he'd order it again.

Jiko- Wood Grilled Fillet Mignon over Macaroni and Cheese with Red Wine Sauce ($34). The wine sauce and the mac and cheese were really fantastic. You could taste the wood grilling without it overpowering a truly excellent piece of steak.

My favorite places for steak are #1 Flying Fish, #2 is a tie between Yachtsman and PYC-the filets at both places were excellent. #3 Brown Derby. I have never eaten at Shulas because we have 3 kids with us all the time! Maybe when DD3 is 4 we will try the kids club and go. We are trying Kona for dinner in Dec. I hope the food is good. Maybe I'll stay away from the steak and order something else! Thanks for you review! :)

I liked my macadamia mahi mahi at Kona (so did he and he isn't a fish person), sticky wings weren't good. Banana carmel creme brulee wasn't bad - but we did a creme brulee off as well and it compared unfavorably to the Pistachio at Jiko and the Maple creme brulee at Le Cellier (our favorite). But when you compare the bill between Kona and our other choice, there isn't a lot of room to complain.

Thanks for the post! Dh loves steak and we will have to get ADRs at Le Celliar for our trip in November (tried to get last-minute ADRs for Le Celliar for our weekend trip earlier this month, but had to settle for Chefs de France, where the steak was just OK, per DH).

I loved the maple bbq glazed filet mignon I had at Le Cellier. The steak at Mama Melrose's was good, but was to charred, so I cut off a lot of the sides, was getting to full anyway. Also, not steak, but close, the pistachio and mint crusted lamb at Brown Derby was excellant.

Only been to two, but they were good ones! Shula's #1, Le Cellier a close second. I never would have thought it, but after reading this board, we are going to try Flying Fish next time!
