Steak house and bar-b-que near Disney?

We're staying on Disney property, but are renting a car. My friend says he wants steak and bar-b-que.

I know about Yachtsman and Shulas for steak. But are there off site options nearby I should take him to instead?

Oh, and he was all excited when I got us reservations at 'Ohana because I told him they bring skewers of meat to you and carve it off. Is there an off site alternative for that? The 'Ohana reservation isn't on the perfect date.

For BBQ 4 rivers is awesome! But, the closest is in winter garden, about 20 minutes away. There is another in Winter Park, north of Orlando.

For steak, I LOVE Shulas...however, the best I have ever had is at Old Hickory Steakhouse at the Gaylord Palms.

Charlie's Steakhouse on I Drive is very nice, great food... be prepared $$$$ very pricey.

There is a BBQ place called bubbalicious or something like that, that my DBIL talks about all the time, not fancy just great BBQ. is his review on it. Its off Kirkman road past Universal Studios.

I'd second the Charley's recommendation. In addition to the International Drive location, there's one on Parkway Boulevard in Kissimmee near where I-4 crosses over SR 192.

Ruth's Chris is also pretty nice and reliable. There's one in the area on West Sand Lake Road in Orlando. Morton's and Del Frisco's (I think that there's been a name change but Del Frisco's is supposed to still be part of the name) are both supposed to be very good, too.

We love Fogo de Chao for the Brazilian steakhouse experience. It's on International Drive near Wonderworks. I'd second 4Rivers as best bet bar-b-que spot. Very inexpensive, large portions and award winning smokehouse favorites.

That is correct. Del Frisco's is now called Christner's Prime Steak and Lobster and it is excellent. In fact, it is my absolute favorite. http://www.christnersprimesteakandlobster.com/

Fogo de Chao and Texas de Brazil are great experiences. You have great food , with a variety of meats and sides.

I second Charley's, Ruth's Chris, and Mortons. The quality of the steaks at those will be somewhat above that of the Brazilian places.

I also like Texas de Brazil, but you should be aware that the meats are usually VERY salty. I personally like that, although it's even a bit much for me sometimes -- but not everyone does.

To me, the Brazilian places are more about the experience and presentation than the quality of the food.
