Friday - Monday (Paris)

04.30 alarm woke us up, we had tried to get an early night but with no luck unfortunately. Michele and I had a quick shower and then we woke the kids for a quick breakfast before setting off to Newcastle airport (20 minute drive away). My father arrived at 05.30 and took us to the airport. We had booked speedy boarding so we weren't that concerned about arriving early for choice of seats. Easyjet flight left at 07.20 and arrived at CDG at 10.00. We collected the luggage and made it to the Metro station for a gruelling RER trip to Rambuteau (change at Les Halles). It wasn't actually that gruelling but with all our luggage, two kids and a pram it was a bit of hassle, especially the change.

We arrived at the apartment at 12.40 and were met by a friendly rep who went over the necessary information.

The apartment block where we stayed (this photo was taken on our last day, hence the time).

The view from the apartment (we were up pretty high!).

Michele took the kids to a nearby supermarket for some provisions while I grabbed a quick nap :-)

After some snacks we had a walk around the area which was quite well situated, the apartment was at the top of Rue Rambuteau. A short walk along Rue Rambuteau took you to the Pompidou centre while Rue Beaubourg took you straight to Notre Dame. Nice.

The next few days saw us wander around the streets taking in the sights and soaking up the atmosphere.

The kids loved the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Jardin des Tuileries. Pony rides, playgrounds, merry-go-rounds and the hiring of sailing boats to float in the lakes took up most of our time in the parks.

We hit the streets on a morning to explore (after breakfast from nearby bakeries) and stayed out until early evening, we only used the Metro once to get to the Eiffel Tower (but it started to rain).

Overall, the weather was pretty good. There were a a few showers but it was so warm it dried up almost instantly.

Monday morning arrived way too quickly. I was actually a little sad to leave Paris behind and go to DLP.

Still, off we went...
