Friday (day 5) - Disneyland Park and Home.
Michele is up bright and early, she showered and popped out for breakfast on her own before we even stir!
I got up and finished packing then roused Katie and Jake. While I was getting them dressed Michele came back with various pastries for them to snack on while we dropped off the luggage, checked out and made our way to the park.
As we left the room for a final time we seemed to wade against a sea of people carrying trays full of breakfast goodies back to their rooms.
The left luggage area of the hotel was outside the main reception and a little further up the boardwalk which made leaving the cases etc. really easy as we did not have to navigate the heaving lobby. There was even a quick drop box for a fast checkout!
We got to the Village with a good ninety minutes to kill before our 12.00 lunch at Cafe Mickey so we managed to do most of our gift shopping then. Michele had been pricing the merchandise between the parks and the Village and some things were a little pricier in the Village. I thought long and hard about getting the Doom Buggy snow-globe (the one with Mickey, Pluto , Goofy et al) in the Disney Gallery. It's a great item and I love it but I decide against it. By then Katie and Jake were laden with cool stuff in the Disney Store, just as well I decided against buying the snow-globe!
Lunch at Cafe Mickey was pretty good. It wasn't too busy and character interaction was excellent!
Katie, Mickey and Jake.
Me: Hunny Pot Barbecue
Michele: Little Mermaid Salad
Katie & Jake: Menu Enfant (both Pasta Fantasy, orange juice and ice cream)
Drinks: x3 Coke, Mowgli's Favourite, x1 Assorted Gourmande (Cafe Creme, macaroon biscuit, miniature Tiramisu and something else which escapes me)
Total: 92.00 Euro.
Decor wise it's like a Little Chefesque and the toilets look a little like Hitler's Bunker but the atmosphere was good and everyone had a great time. Oh, and the coffee wasn't too bad either.
Katie, Tigger and Jake.
We were in there so long that we caught the characters on their second cycle, so the kids made the most of that
At one point I happened to glance out of the window and it had started to rain really heavily. Pluto spotted it at the same time and tapped Tigger on the shoulder and pointed outside, Tigger raised his paws in shock. I sat giggling to myself, but I think I was the only one who saw it. Tigger was much better behaved this time, I suspect it was a different cast member.
Ooo... lookit' it out there!
We made it into the park between downpours and made our way up the covered walkway from the Liberty Arcade to Pirates of the Caribbean, which had a ten minute wait. We all went on for one final ride.
After we picked up some Pirates of the Caribbean and Nightmare Before Christmas goodies in Le Coffre du Capitaine.
We then made our way down to the Phantom Manor (grabbing FastPass tickets for Big Thunder Mountain as we passed), which had a ten minute wait. We all went on for one final ride.
Molly Brown (the unsinkable).
Then we popped into Fuente del Oro for some drinks and snacks while we waited for our Big Thunder Mountain slot. When it was time Katie and I walked round to the FastPass entrance and walked straight to the front of the queue. I asked the cast member if we could sit in carriage number one and she nodded. Katie was really excited. When we were seated I happened to look out of one of the side windows of the loading area. It was teaming down outside! "No way they'll send us out in this!" I thought... I was wrong! The rain was coming down so fast that I could not open my eyes! We got absolutely drenched! But it was one of those special DLP memory moments, you know the ones. We all have them.
See, I told you we got wet
We watch Candlebration again (which still bemuses me in daylight, I'd love to see it at night) and then decided to go back to the hotel. On the way I finally treat myself to the new park DVD, the Star Tours Jedi Mickey & Yoda figures and a Starspeeder 3000 shuttlecraft.
Time to go home. Sigh...
The flight is scheduled for 21.20 and the BS Transport private shuttle arrives at the Hotel for us at 19.25. It's an excellent service and I would strongly recommend it to anyone.
-----===== FIN =====-----
Well, that's it I guess. If I think of any more information I'll edit my original report entries.
At some point we watched the Character Express Parade and the last half of the Once Upon a Dream Parade (Michele and Jake caught it all and were raving about it when we met up).
I don't know when we will go back (sooner than later I hope) but Michele did admit she was a little sick of the place and is in no hurry to go back.
Katie and Jake are still talking about the holiday!
I only listed the main meals but throughout each day we were also snacking on cookies, sandwiches etc.
Thanks for being so kind and reading my trip reports!
Overall, I think we had a good time
