Staying until park closes?

Another vote for staying until closing! It's so magical with the low crowds and lights. One of my favorite Jungle Cruise rides was at closing with Maynard, he was so funny.

We're on vacation...no getting up at the crack of dawn for us. None of that early morning stuff .

Some people like to spend the last hour of the night in Fantasyland.

They say the lines are fairly short (except for Peter Pan).

They call it the "Fantasyland Power Hour."

So true. As soon as it opens after fireworks, Fantasyland is as "dead" as the residents of the Haunted Mansion. Plus, the teacups are so cool at night with the different colored lights.

I have never been to Fantasyland after dark! Where do you think would be the best place to be so that we can get right in line quickly for Peter Pan after the fireworks? I don't necessarily have to watch the fireworks first.

We go to DL every summer for ONE day. Hey one day is better than none, right? So, we make sure that we drive up from San Diego early enough to make the opening and then we stay until closing at midnight. It sounds like a long day, but it really flies by. We make sure to book a late lunch at a sit-down restaurant. This year we're doing Blue Bayou. Sit down meals really give you an opportunity to relax and recharge. Then you're ready to hit the second half of the day.

Fantasmic! is sooo much better at DL and I can't wait for WOC.

We've been going to DL since DD was 3. She never wants to leave the park so we always end up leaving at the very end. She has cried upon leaving so many times... We love the park at night. You should experience it at least once. sometimes we take a break after the afternoon parade and come back around 6. It makes it easier after a nap.

Right. We are not putting either of these in the "plan." We've done F! in WDW a few times and the kids really said they don't care either way. DH hates shows and parades so I'm trying to please everyone. But, if it falls into place where we can see F!, then we will....
As far as WOC goes, it just seems like too much craziness and uncertainty to plan it.

One thing to keep in mind when evaluating the length of the line for your last ride......say
15 minutes prior to closing you get into a 30 minute queue for SpaceM. You have still only used 15 minutes of your park time, since everything after that you didn't pay for. I have stood in a queue for soaring for 40 minutes as my last ride and been happy since we jumped into the queue 10 minutes prior to the close of the park.The walk out of the park is then very special.

We somehow always seem to end up closing down parks - we never mean to... but we just can't seem to leave

I think one time we were the absolute last guests out of DCA. My daughter decided camp out in the potty near the exit. It was a 15 minute experience. The security staff was very nice about it... but we had a whole gang of security staff members there to make sure we made it the 20 feet from the bathroom to the exit.

Love the parks at night!!, we are WDW vets and try to make It untill park closer. The parks at night take on a life of there owen,with the lights and music. What shows are going on at night besides the FW and parades?.

I've never been to WDW but I've heard that DL Fantasmic is much different then the one at WDW. DL's is on the water at the Rivers of America and really pretty cool if you're lucky enough to snag a front row seat- which we always are. It's awesome to actually feel the water mist your face and hear the splashes. Plus there's this pretty cool part (and one of my personal favs) where a ton of characters sail by in the riverboat- I can't image that they have that at the one at WDW since that ones on a stage, right?

If you are going to be there when they have 2 showings you might try and hit the 2nd showing as it's usually less crowded.

I know you are trying to please everyone, been there...maybe check out some youtube videos to see if DL Fantasmic would be something of interest to your family?? Good luck!

To me, there are two Magic Kingdoms -- a daytime one and a nighttime one. I love both, but at night, MK becomes almost magical. The lights are twinkling; the babies are asleep in their strollers; people are sitting and talking or eating ice cream. It's beautiful.

I love hitting Toontown as late a possible. When we were in WDW last year it closed earlier than the rest of the park, which was unfortunate. I really like all of the things to discover, but I don't want to deprieve a little one of the joy of finding them on their own. At night there are much fewer children, so it is quieter and magical, for someone traveling without tykes.

Not too many shows late at night. There is of course fireworks, Fantasmic and the upcoming World of Color at DCA.

For summer Nightastic they have dancing at Tomorrowland Terrace.

I agree totally! It's a whole different park at night, why would you NOT want to stay and experience it??

Staying till the end is so worth it. Last August, my brother and I rode Splash Mountain consecutively like 6 times. Front row every time
