Ugh!!

I can't make up my mind!! :confused3

We will be staying Garden view concierge so obviously the Hawaii blding. We have our almost 4yr old dd with us. I initially wanted a 3rd floor balcony as I love balconies, thought it would be a more private get away after she goes to bed and right down the hall from the sitting area. Plus a great view!!

DH wants 1st floor for the patio, letting dd run around the grounds near by, easy access to pool, bar, lagoon etc.., no climbing stairs/elevators coming back from parks, quiet (no lounge on that floor.) Well he upgraded us to concierge so I let him have his choice. Well now he comes in this morning and says, ya know - you planned this whole thing, I want you to pick. :earseek:

Now I am thinking he may may be right with 1st floor anyway. I know we might not get our first choice but I was curious what others w/ small kids preferred??

Thanks!!

I prefer the third floor for sitting on the balcony after the kids are asleep...just love sitting on those balconies.

thanks for responding. Did you like the easy access to the 3rd floor lounge from there as well?

If you were lagoon view, the privacy thing would be a stronger arguement. With garden view, you have other 3rd floor rooms at your level that can look in.

First floor may be a better choice for the given reasons.

Both times we have stayed Poly concierage we have been lagoon view but I don't think this affects my answer that much. The first year we stayed at the Poly concierage we were first floor and we loved it! Lots of room for the kids to run around and I didn't have to worry about my intrepid climber (my 2 year old at the time) deciding to take a nose dive off the balcony. Last year we had a 3rd floor room. The lounge is on the 2nd floor and we were really close to the stairs. This was convenient and the view was spectacular. I didn't think it was any better than the first floor though. The kids didn't seem to like it as much and didn't spend a lot of time on the balcony. I would go for the 1st floor for all the reasons that your DH first decided.

You can hang out on the balcony as easy if not easier than a balcony and there are a few rooms garden side that have some palm trees right at the balcony level that you might not want to end up in. Some friends of ours were put there and asked to be moved. They ended up on the 1st floor and loved it. I enjoy the 3rd floor but I love the ground level.

I am having the same issues on 3rd vs 1st floor rooms for our July trip. The only request I have made to date is a non-smoking room (LVC).

My question for the 1st floor rooms is can you lock and unlock them from the outside patio? It does seem like quick access to let our kids out to play, go to the pool etc, but if we can't lock the room when we leave it doesn't make much sense to me.

The locks on the doors use to use the key that came with the room. Now the rooms use the card so the room cannot be locked from the outside. The reason it is nice to have a ground floor is not to go to the pool from the room but you can stroll out to the grass area or beach. I sit on the patio often and than walk out to the sand but I do not leave the room open with no one near by or inside the room. If you had kids it gives them an area to play while you are on the patio or just inside the room and they don’t have to go down the elevator and out to the beach.

If none of this makes sense and you don’t see the point than maybe you don’t want a ground floor room.

Thanks everyone. We have decided to keep our request for a 1st floor with our second option 3rd floor. Really both have perks and I would be happy either way - watch I will get the 2nd floor :rotfl:

Hey Tikiman and others who have been there - are stairs located on both ends or just on the end of the lounge? Also everyone keeps talking about service elevators, where are they located?

Thanks again everyone. I leave tomorrow!!!!!

Will come back with a full report!!

The service elevator is located at the lounge end on the garden view side. Yes there are stairs at both ends.

Thanks Steve, aka tikiman, - also thanks for the great website. I have learned SO much about the Poly that I know my stay will be much better because of it.

I will report when I get back - now back to packing :goodvibes
