Staying organized while camping

Easiest solution is rent a separate campsite for the kids on the other side of the campground next to the dumpster so you can just shovel eveything in when you leave :rotfl2:

It has crossed my mind.

Just noticed your ticker...honest I was trying not to stare but it's such a nice ticker...looks like we'll be down there the same time. You want to put your kids on our kids campsite? :lmao:

Bribery can also work wonders for getting kids to do things

Stepping on them a few times at 3am heading for the bathroom because you can't see them buried under the pile of clothes and everything else at their end of the tent works wonders too :thumbsup2

Ya next year will be our second trip to WDW camping at the fort, the first time we were there was for 10 days and by the time day 5 rolled around we were basically squeezing in and out the front door so no one could see in, it was a total pig pen.

What I'm doing differently this next time I go is : I'm finding a place for just things that we buy, my dd is going with us and she collects disney snow globes so I'm clearing a floor space in the back bedroom on the side of the wall just for this. And clearing one closet.

I'm going to buy a couple of huge trash bags for our dirty cloths and it's going into my back bedroom on the floor so as it builds up it won't be in the way.

I'm going to put a tote by the front door and place all of our shoes into it as we come in, you won't beleive the trouble I had with shoes the last time we went.

All extra cases of pepsi, coke, water goes outside on the picnic table unless it's in the refre.

I'm not taking my extra throw pillows and what-nots they will stay home for added space. Anything that it looks like I won't be using it will stay home.

I don't have a problem with bathroom stuff thank goodness my bathroom is good size. All wet bathing suits or towels go out onto our laundry rack ( does anyone have a trick for keeping it up, it always falls over ? )

All trash goes out, does not stay in the camper, we will have one trash can this trip not 4 like last time.

I'm buying hooks for the walls and hanging anything that I can hang to get it out of the way ( the kind that's heavy duty peel and stick ).

I want to figure out a way to hang my fans because we keep them going at night to block out some of the noise ( anyone ? )We have bought a key rack and have it by the front door for all keys, wallets, monies, tickets etc. to keep that from spilling all over the camper.

This is just a few of the things I'm going to do. I could go on but if a post get to lengthy people quit reading it ...heehee

 If you have the fans just for background noise I can suggest 2 things that we do... #1 is turn our radio to an off channel and use the static as white noise. #2 we have a white noise machine we have at home in our bedroom. It's a small machine (about the size of small radio) that has different sound options like a stream, ocean, rain or my personal favorite, plain white noise (static) we got it at walmart for about $14.00. It's hit or miss if we remember to pack it so the radio is our back up plan. I keep forgetting to buy an extra one ;)

Just another small idea. What about collapsible plastic crates? You can view them on the Stacks and Stacks website. I haven't looked for these at Target or Walmart yet. They fold up flat and you could just pull them out for souvenirs, as you need them.

I have some of those collapsible crates, and they are great!

One thing I did to stay organized when the kids were growing up ... I gave them each a plastic basket. They were allowed to pack whatever they wanted as long as it fit into the basket. It was amazing how quickly they learned to pack lean!

We also have many people and kids in a popup. We didn't have a chance to make it this year before we went but I saw an idea to put tubs under the bunkends of a popup by hanging them by chains to a wire shelf rack. You can make the chains the exact lengths you would need to make them fit snugly so that critters can't get into them, even with the lip part of the shelf to help with that. You can slide them out when you need something and they will stay out of the rain too. You can put them up to fit 1 or 2 on each side if need be. I thought this was a great idea for some items to keep them stored outside the popup. I intend to make them soon for ours. Hopefully next year won't be as hectic before we leave. We also had a large screenhouse with a tent under it for 2 of the people in our group.

:rotfl: Our kids are actually looking forward to spending 2 1/2 weeks in the popup. I think we finally got the organization of it down so that we don't feel like we're living in a pigpen all the time. It's the only time they are willing to sleep in the same bed (had to rig up a curtain that hangs from the bunkend bar to separate them!)

I'll be trying to make some sort of lime green Mickey head for the campsite... we'll be on 1500 or 2000 loop.

I have teens also, I am lucky that my camper has a big closet for them to put their stuff in. When it starts to fall out, I shove it back in! ;)

DS takes a bag to shower but DD has a shower cady and a duffle bag that works well. Laundry rack outside under awning for towels and shoes outside under trailer.

I keep laundry under bed in a basket and when it got full, I took the time to do it. Made it a lot easier when we got home! I made sure I had enough quarters.

We don't do souveniers until the end of the trip. We go to Downtown Disney and use the Visa and get the discount and we don't have to deal with the stuff the whole trip.

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

Good Luck! :yay:

We bring 2 mesh hampers (the kind that fold flat) and wash the clothes when they are full. We also only pack 4 or 5 days clothes, even if we are there for 2 weeks.

I have 2 Sterilite storage things that have three drawers each. I use them for food and anything else we need them for. They are on the floor for travel and on the counter for camping.

And last, we put up the screen room on the awning. That is like adding another room!

We use those collapsible mesh clothes things also. One thing I do is I have a fairly large Sterilite storage container in my rear pass thru that I have my awning tie downs, deflappers, awning lights, and extension cord, and misc in and when at FW I put that next to the door to put shoes, etc. on so the lizards and other creepy crawler syndrome is lessened.
