Was lucky enough to get a PIN for our October dates so booked yesterday to stay at all star movies with free QSDP upgraded to ddp.

I know values are not everyones cup of tea but it was where we first stayed onsite and we liked it.

We've had flights booked for a bit but no accomodation. Usually October dates haven't been released on the US free dining offer until July or August so glad to be sorted sooner.

Cool :-)

I think we will be there the same time as you. We booked 5 Days at POFQ and upgraded to DDP from QSDP than are moving to OKW for 5 days with rented DVC points

We might bump into you there

How do you get a pin ?

We are there 19/10 to 2/11.

PIN's are pot luck.

We booked one night at A of Animation last November with US disney website so think that may have helped.

We are there from 18-28th. It's a girls only trip . My Best friend , her DD (9) , my DD (11) and me :-) This will be our first on site WDW stay so we are very excited .

I'm not sure how pins work . Did it let you book early or get a special offer /discount ?

A PIN is a discount code.
You can't request one, you get them at random.
The "value" of the PIN varies. Sometimes you get a "code" (PIN) for free dining, sometimes you get one for room only discounts. It varies.
It's just like getting a deal, except that it's just for you and does not depend on general public deal dates.

@Dixonsontour : I'm glad you have it sorted. See you there :)

Seeing as you fly out on my birthday, it would be rude not to take me with you.;)

We actually really enjoy the values too, our very 1st stay on site ( and my 1st trip ever) was at Pop.
I remember walking into the lobby and my wife ( then DF) standing there with the kids after the most stressful flight ever " twin 14 month olds & a 3yr old with no tv's plus having to move twice for take off and landing as they stupidly put us in seats with no oxygen masks for the kids! Which meant abusive rude passengers as they was made to move into our seats"
Anyways I turned around and she is smiling with tears running down her face PRICELESS :) after that I was hooked on the on site resorts as was she after 19 years of staying at I-drive for 3-6 wks each yr.

I don't get why people hate on them quite so much,we have stayed at AKL SSR AOA and our kids love pop just as much as any of those and always ask to go visit they live the big icons!!

Not long now for you that will soon fly by.

We loved pop and despite being dvc members would not hesitate to stop there again. In fact just trying to decide if 3 nights at pop or rent points for 3 nights. Obviously depends on the points and season we go as to which will be the cheapest.

We love POP. It's our home.
we only go moderate this year because of FD, but POP remains our choice.
If it weren't for FD, there wouldn't be no real incentive for us to go to a moderate ...

a pool slide ? ... we're on ultimate tickets, if we want a slide we have BB and TL ...
a sit down restaurant ? ... we're minutes away from any WDW restaurant ...

less crowd and less noise ? ... seriously ? ... it never bothered us ... maybe we don't go during peak times but we never feel overcrowded or annoyed by the noise (except when the guest next door set his alarm clock at full volume each morning at 6am and let it scream for hours while he goes get breakfast at the food court and leave for the parks ... until we call housekeeping so they enter the room and stop the damn thing ... 3 monrings in a row ... man, how glad we were that this family checked out :) )
A monorail ? ok, I understand the convinience, but ... well ... that would allow us to sleep in 5 or 10 more minutes each morning ... yeah ... the most expensive minutes of sleep ever :) ... (of course this is caricature here :) )

POP probably remains (and will remain) the best value for money, for us.
I don't quite fancy ASx because of their layout but I'm sure we'd feel just as fine there.
AoA, we'll try in october before we move to POR, but we always come back to Values as we just can't justify paying a higher price for accomodation. It's not that we can't afford going Deluxe, it's that it is just not us and we don't feel at ease there. Too POSH for us, we like it simple.

Sorry to hijack the thread with this question, but I have been trying to figure this thing out for a while. How do you access the US Disney Site? Whenever I go to it, it defaults to the UK page. A few times I've gone to the page and it's the new "universal" page, but then it goes back to a UK Only page. Any ideas??

when you say the new "universal" page, you mean the new "page for everyone" or do you mean the "universal orlando webpage" ? ... :)

but then it goes back to a UK Only page. Any ideas??

when you try to access https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/ does the URL field say https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/ (US site) or does it say http://wdtc.disneyinternational.com/default.asp (UK site)

If you click on the first link and it reverts to the second adress, then you may have a geolocation setting active in your browser.
refer to your browser manual/faq to disable this feature and verify if it changes anything

No, I mean the Disneyworld page not Universal Studios. The URL is disneyworld.disney.go.com but it's a UK specific site.

With firefox
when you're on that disney.go.com page, try the following
click on "tools" (menu at the top) and "Page info"

a context window opens, go to the "Persmission" tab

there should be a "share location" item, with "always ask" on the left, and two options (allow / block) on the right

if the option is on "allow", untick "always ask" if ticked, and select "block"

close window, close browser and restart. If this doesn't fix the issue then I have no idea.

I've been getting on to US disney by doing into US spanish (options are bottom left) then it lets you into US english.
