Staying only in the World

thanks for your input! That must have been the most amazing surprise ever! This trip will also be a graduation present for myself and I guess it's a pretty good motivator for me to work hard  And I think it would be really nice to stopover in another city for a night before heading to wdw, I've figured I would much rather spend my last day at wdw and let the trip home be a blur

What's the weather like in December,to us Aussies? I have read that it's generally nice and can get cold at night, although after looking at the temps,I've seen that its sometimes only around 20 degrees (Celsius) which I don't consider to be cold :P
I would enjoy it if it were cold, hot sweaty christmas's are not glamorous :rotfl:

Welcome to the boards Craxyfox!

$1400 Syd MCO is a great price. If you are thinking December airfare prices jump considerably from Dec 9 (give or take a day).

8 days will be enough to do the highlights and more with some good planning. Have a look at Ms Shuttergirl's thread on the Aussie boards as she is at WDW now and has detailed things like temperature (Although it does seem unseasonably warm).

If you haven't travelled long distances before, you may also want you look at strategies for dealing with jet lag.

thank you minniemum ^^ :thanks:
I really hope I can come across low airfare prices like that again next year -fingerscrossed-
I've been keeping track of touring plans and easywdw, can't wait to get my copy of the Unofficial guide to wdw. I have a lot of time on my hands atm so I'll be studying it from cover to cover :p
The temperatures do seem to be oddly warm, I've read a number of trip reports by American bloggers (disney tourist is my favourite) who describe the weather as being cold, so I don't know if during their visits it is cold or they just find that kind of weather cold :p

I'll definitely look into dealing with jetlag, especially for the bf who hasn't travelled long distances before. I used to travel almost every year to Asia when I was a child with around 8-9 hours each flight, but it'll be nothing compared to US flights

Remember with jetlag its not just the long flight - its the different time zone that matters - Asia is only an hour or two difference to what we are used to.

Orlando is 15hours which means day is night and night is day as far as our bodies go!

But, no pain - no gain, no point complaining about it, push through and enjoy!!

yep the most I've had to deal with is 4 hours time difference and wanting to go to bed while everyone's still having dinner at 6pm :p

But you're right, we just need to tough it out and hopefully I'll be too high on Disney happiness anyway :rotfl:

Me and my bf will only be two 20 something yro's so it won't be too hard for us to eat a cup of cement and get through it, but how does everyone handle their kids in adjusting to the time differences?

We had a mix in 2008-warm days (T shirts only), colder windy days-sweatshirt over the top and jeans and for 1 night only-the night we went to MVMCP - temps plummeted and we froze that night at about 2C but I think that's rare.

That actually sounds really nice :) I like how the night you went to mvmcp it got that cold,of all nights
I would really like to be at the party when it's cold, just so it would feel more christmassy, as long as my fingers don't freeze I guess :goodvibes:

I thought it was great and made us appreciate the hot chocolate and cookies and it really felt like Christmas!! but DH and DD got a bit whiny queuing for so long standing still to watch the parade-they were frozen!

If it helps, we generally find for airfares, they drop again approximately 6 months out from whenever you're planning to fly.
