We are staying 5 nights in December on my DVC points, but the last night on a room only cash reservation. Both reservations are in a 2 bedroom villa at Saratoga Springs.

Would we have to move rooms for the second reservation for one night since it is a Disney reservation and not a DVC reservation? I hope not, but would like to be prepared.

Thanks!

DVC cash rate or CRO cash rate?

I asked DVC MS about this exact same scenario recently and she told me I wouldn't have to move rooms, but I don't totally trust it because I have read on the Dis before that it was a possibility. Possibly she was 100% correct and they have fixed that issue because it's easier for both the guest and the resort to just let the person stay in the same room. Now if you booked through CRO and not DVC cash rate, you will most likely have to move.

Very good question, but IMO it does not matter as much where the cash rez originated as making SURE to make the calls to the appropriate call center to have them add the other rez number and cross-reference the rez's. IOW, if you booked $ through CRO, call members services and give them the Rez# from your CRO cash rez and ask them to please cross-ref the rez's to increase your chances of staying in the same room. And conversely you would want to call CRO with your DVC rez# and ask them to put it on the CRO rez and cross-ref. Believe me, the resorts don't want to have to move you either but they MUST know that both those rez's are for the same person and that you wish to stay as if it was a continuous rez.

Then I would make SURE to call the resort at around 9 or 10 days out and talk to someone at the FD or in resort room assignment and let them know you have 2 consecutive rez's with 2 separate rez numbers. If both rez's were made via MS, do the very same thing but it will all be within MS so it's a tad simpler. Hope this makes sense. :flower3:

If the cash reservation is through DVC, they will combine them into one reservation. But if the cash night is through DRC, you will have to check out and check in again and you might have to move. When note both reservation numbers on the opposite reservation like southerngirl528 suggests. When you check in, see if you are blocked into the same room for both reservations.

Thank you everyone! I will call the appropriate people with our reservation information.

Unless something has changed a great deal since I worked MS, the reservations may be LINKED but not "combined" because they are 2 different type of reservations, one cash & one on points with 2 separate rez numbers. These are from 2 entirely different pools of inventory. In essence linking makes the rez appear pretty seamless to the resort. A call to the resort a week or 10 days before your first check-in date is advised. I would definitely not wait until you check in on this because at that point they may or may not be able to keep you in the same room. It is in both the resort and your best interests to keep you in the same room. You just want to make certain they know. You should be good if you do the above. Good luck and have fun! :flower:

We had this exact thing last week for my sister. The first 6 nights were on points and the last night CRO cash reservation. She actually just made the final decision to stay in that room after our arrival so I went to the front desk to have it set up for her to remain in the same room. They called the room assignor who took care of that. My sister had to check out and back in but that was all. If she had decided earlier I would have had both MS and CRO note the other reservation and request to stay in the same room. With SSR being so large I personally don't think you'll have any issue.

Also check on it when you check in to make sure. We have never had to move. Check out, and check back in was it.

As to calling the resort before hand that is probably not going to happen, due to all calls go to the Call Center.

It is correct that all calls do go to the call center on WDW property (unless you happen to have the actual #) but if you ask for the FD and let them know you have a bit of a complicated rez that you need to speak w/someone briefly I have never had them deny transferring me.
