Staying off property!!! How to get about?

YEs! We're staying in Windsor Hills. I forget the exact name of the street, but anyway the homes advertise that they are 10 minutes from Disney World. When I pull it up on yahoo maps it is telling me something like 10 miles and 15 minutes. I was just wondering if that was fairly accurate or if we were going to be sitting in traffic for 45 minutes? Did you find your drive time to the parks (once you actually got in the car;)) to be fairly accurate to what the maps said?

If your Yahoo route tells you to take 192 east to World Dr, that is the long way. Click on link from my pp to see the Sherberth Rd shortcut on mapquest. (I am estimating WH location. I haven't rented a pool home in a while but we've stayed back in those neighborhoods many times:Windsor Palms, Rolling Hills, Indian Creek, Formosa Gardens, etc.)
It takes you from 192 straight to AKL in about 3 mins. Once you turn onto Sherberth Rd (McDonalds on corner) follow it winding and you'll come to a traffic light. If you were to make a left turn, you'd go right into AKL but don't. Make a right turn onto Osceola Parkway and it's all WDW property/signage. Make a quick left for AK or continue on and follow signs for other parks.

Getting 'home' at night is easy. Just follow signs for AKL. You know when to turn on Sherberth Rd cuz you'll see AKL coming closer and you come to that same traffic light again. There are signs directing you back to 192.

It's very easy but of course 1st time was tricky. I had lots of print out from Disers with me. :goodvibes

Def not sitting in traffic for 45 mins. but I've never been during holidays or peak times. Furthest park is MK but still 15 mins max.
WDW signage is great. You might just enjoy it more than riding/standing on a bus. ;)

We stayed in WH and found that driving was faster than the buses...even to the MK parking lot. As for meals, we ate breakfast at "home", lunch in the parks, took an afternoon break and had "dinner" before returning to the park.

Definitely take the Sherberth road shortcut...have fun.

WooHoo! :thumbsup2 Have i mentioned that you guys are AWESOME? Thanks for all the info.:goodvibes
