Staying longer on Canadian Rockies ABD?

Just curious whether folks that have been to the Canadian rockies trip think it might be a good idea to extend the trip a day or two at the end. The trip ends on a thursday so not much point in rushing home. I am just wondering if there is enough to do in the area that it makes sense to spend an extra day or two.

I haven't done this particular trip but I have spent time in Calgary. There are lots of things to see and do in and around Calgary. If you're into Dinosaurs then a trip to Drumheller and the Royal Tyrell museum is worthwhile. It's about 90 minutes outside of Calgary but easily driveable if you rent a car. There is also Calgary Olympic Park where you can ride down the bobsled track. Depending on the time of year you're doing the trip, and if you're into horses, there are the stampede grounds and Spruce Meadows, just south of the city.

In my opinion, you can always use more time in a national park like Banff. There will definitely be hikes and sights that ABD doesn't see.

I would ask the guides how the transfers at the end of the trip work. Since you won't have a car, you may have to take the ABD transfer to the airport so you can rent a car and drive back to the park.

We are going in July and staying an extra 2 days at the end just to relax. We had to book the extra nights directly through the hotel though. ABD didn't offer any post-nights through them.

Did you figure out how you are going to get to the airport? That's what I was thinking of doing too- although the rooms definitely aren't cheap!

We got lucky - ABD has another tour finishing 2 days after ours and they arranged for us to ride with them.
