Staying in a 1 Bedroom. Oh how that kitchen taunts me!

I usually stay in studios since I now travel mostly with DD or DH. Next month it will be myself, DD, DS and DS's girlfriend, so I booked a 1 bedroom. We have 4 ADR's planned for must do meals and the rest will be cs and grazing around the Flower & Garden food booths. I already feel guilty for having a full kitchen and not using it (happens every time) I'm thinking of bringing some cookie dough for snacks and bacon for breakfasts, just to ease the guilt!!!! Anyone else have this problem?

I sometimes boil water and make myself hot tea :thumbsup2 That counts a cooking. And I like to fill up the fridge with leftovers and drinks.

Even with the kitchen, i still bring fully cooked bacon. I really hate having to wash and clean up the range with all the bacon grease.

The one time I tried to cook bacon at OKW, I managed to make the fire alarm go off :) No more cooking bacon for me. I bring it pre-cooked if we plan on eating any.

The fridge keeps wine cold for me and milk cold for cereal for my girls....ohhh and I boil water for their pasta with butter and parmesan(one of the 5 things they eat). That is the extent of my cooking on vacation.

Any such guilt feelings end as soon as we use the washer and dryer. In fact we are going the other way, starting to do trips with just DH and I (no kids) and I just can not justify the extra points for the 1 bedroom and we are really frustrated with the loss of the washer and dryer!!

As a Catholic, guilt is a way of life for me but I have ZERO guilt about not cooking at WDW. That stove is needed as additional counter space. :D

We've stayed at the BCV's in a 2 BR and only planned to make coffee for breakfast. But we found that the frig was nice for storing leftovers. And we would also find ourselves making a pizza at night once in awhile.

But on our upcoming trip to OKW we are planning on having breakfast in the villa. It will save lots of time and money, especially with 7 people, including two growing boys. :)

We enjoy the resort living and 1 bedrooms. We cook our favorite meals, save a ton of money, pack lite and do laundry when needed.

We eat out at our favorite restaurants, sleep in if we feel like it, do some park time if we feel like it, and just relax.

Since changing the way we do Disney, we no longer feel like we need a vacation after our Disney vacation.

I'm with Bill on this one. The times that I've traveled and had a kitchen at my disposal, I have made the best of it. I love cooking but since I frequently work four to five 12 hour days per week I rarely indulge myself. When I have a stretch of time off, my cooking itch comes out and I'm happy to cook away. The fact that I'll be saving money doing it when we're at WDW makes it even more tempting. I'm really looking forward to having a kitchen for our first DVC trip to the World.

WE made the mistake of getting a 1bdr at the AKL club level and never had to use it either since they basically provide 3 lite meals. However, it was nice to know we had one if we went crazy and decided to cook. :)

We'll make use of the kitchen during our stay. Even if we don't use the stove, the fridge and additional space is a must when we have the kids.

This is our game plan as well. Now the parks are an interesting option, but we try to enjoy all the amenities of the resort that we are staying at. We do 3 parks on our weekly trips and eat our main meal for the day in the park that day. We chose DVC because of the full kitchen for our family of 5. We load up at BJ's at Millenia Mall with a case of bottled water, anything that we need for meals (the small stuff we bring from home), other drinkage (they have a ABC store attached), snacks, etc... I organize and cook while we are there. We have planned daily activties like water parks, spa, mini golf, golf lesson, pool events, DTD, theme park, but always are relaxed and rested after our trip.

We only do 1 bedrooms about half the time. Whether we stay in a studio or 1 bedroom we eat almost all of our breakfasts in the room. In a studio we are always limited to cereal, bagels, pop tarts. In a 1 bedroom we may do eats, etc. We maybe do 1 or 2 easy dinners. We go almost every year for Thanksgiving and decided this year we are finally going to cook our dinner, never really been that happy with the choices or the cost!
