If you stay DVC can you get the Disney Dining Plan through Disney? I know that Davids rentals offers the DDP but you have to buy it through them. I was hoping to buy it through Disney with a Disney Gift Card. Does any one know if this can be done?

Renters have to have the member buy it for them but no reason why the person you rent from couldn't use your gift card to pay for it for you

You will not be able to buy it yourself through Disney

David's does not pay for your DDP the individual member you are renting from does through David's. I would imagine it would be up to the individual member so you will need to ask David's.

David's will not take any money from you for the DDP. They will take your credit card number which will be used by the member you are renting from to add the DDP. It cannot be done by anyone other than the DVC member.

Thank you that is very helpful!!!

I've paid done the DDP before with gift cards for a renter. It can be done, but I would make sure the person you rented from will do this for you before buying the cards.

If you're renting points through David's (or another service), do you have to have park tickets attached to your DVC reservation to get the dining plan? I want to use David's and get the dining plan, but then use Undercover Tourist for tickets. Is that possible?

You don't need to buy tickets from Disney. You can purchase your tickets from anywhere. And if you aren't going to the parks at all, you don't even need tickets.

And DVC point reservations are kinda like AP reservations in that you can add DDP to a room only reservation.

To expand on Deb & Bill's post, you don't need park tickets to buy the dining plan or make dining reservations, even dining reservations in the parks. You do need park tickets to get into the park to use those dining reservations though, and those tickets may come from a variety of places anytime up until your reservation. You do need park tickets (or AP passes) linked to your MDE account if you want to make FP+ reservations though.
