Is it way too ambitious to try to stay at WDW for a couple of nights before a cruise leaving from Miami and drive to port early the morning of the cruise? Has anyone ever done this?

We did it but drove down the day before and stayed with relatives in Delray Beach. Cruise morning we finished up the trip to Miami.

We stated at WDW a few days before our cruise out of Miami this past December. We left early the morning of the cruise, I think around 8:00 am. It was a Sunday. No traffic problems. I believe it took us about 3.5 hours to get there. It wasn't a bad drive.

Yeah. It took us six hours - we arrived during pm rush hour. Ugh....

It took us around that time leaving the Orlando area early (we were driving past to go to Key West) because of a wreck closing down the tollway and forcing everyone onto the non-tollway. So...be prepared just in case. It would stink to miss a cruise because of road closures.

We spent time at BWV before our DCL Miami cruises twice. We had a rental car each time, drove to Miami airport and took rental car shuttle to port. Just leave early, not a problem.

Two years ago, we went to the MNSSHP and drove to Miami the next morning. We left about 7 a.m. and arrived in plenty of time for our 11:00 boarding. We had a rental car so dropped off people and luggage at the port, then DH returned the car (SIXT) and they brought him back to the port. Still had plenty of time.
