Hey all! DH and I decided to head out that way for the night next friday since we got a rare fri/sat off together. Never been there, but excited! We got an ocean view inn room, and I requested a direct ocean view as many had suggested on the boards. I can't imagine it's terribly crowded, and may not be warm enough to swim, but we'll sure spend some time in the hot tub and relax in the sun if we can help it. We also made a res at Shutters for dinner on Friday. Anything else a newbie should know.

PS - do they have resort mugs there like at the world? Are they the same ones. I'd love to add a new one to my collection :)

Lucky! We were there in August of 2009 and can't wait to go back again! We too stayed in an ocean view room and LOVED it! We did the pirate meal at shutters with our two girls and enjoyed it. Obviously in August we used the pool and ocean a lot!

We did get a mug but, at that time, it was the same offered at the WDW resorts. The refill stations are by the pool and in the giftshop.

There is nothing better than waking up to watch the sunrise from the balcony! Enjoy yourselves and all the relaxation that place holds!

I'm here right now and it's very quiet!! The ocean is cold (from what I heard lol). The pool felt pretty comfortable. I don't have a thermometer but I'd say it felt warmer than what they keep the pools at WDW.

Mugs are the same and the only refill station is by the pool. It's available for soda refills from 8am to 10pm. Coffee is available by the lobby/restaurant area in the mornings.

Enjoy your trip!

Enjoy. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family.

We were there in December 2007. We LOVED our visit. The staff was great, the weather was gorgeous.

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Vero is my home resort and expect it to be very quiet this time of the year.

It will be a perfect vacation with no kids around.

Enjoy the hot tub!!!

Enjoy your visit!! VB is awesome. We went for the first time in June 08 and we absolutely loved it  Wish we had stayed longer than 3 nights but then we headed to the World and stayed at SSR for a week!! It was a great vacation! :)

We are going to Vero on Saturday for the first time.

Is there also a place to get tea and milk, as we are tea drinkers.

We stayed there once and although you may not be swimming anyway, I remember the pool closed early. The resort was nice but we went in the middle of summer and wanted to swim at night. fyi

Did they physically restrict access to the pool? I think the pool at WDW also have some official opening hours posted but saw people in there many times outside the posted hours.

Our experience in January at VB is that it's usually decent swimming weather (of course, considering that I am from Maine where swimming weather is any time the pond isn't frozen...). We have been twice in January in 4 times in Febraury, and only once was it too cold to swim (Jan 2005, not that we didn't swim anyway).

As for Tea, you can get a cup of tea up in the Green Cabin Room, the bar up on the second floor, and sit overlooking the ocean, or over by the fireplace. I don't know if they have tea at Bleachers by the pool. The Green Cabin Room is a jewel, and a great place to just relax for an hour any afternoon. On weekends, there is often live music at the Green Cabin Room, and that can be noisy, so take that in to consideration when considering room assignments.

Also, if you are a Tables in Wonderland holder, remember that your TiW discounts are valid at Shutters and the Green Cabin Room (and possibly Sonya's, but I'm not sure).

If you are adventurous and it is available, the Kayaking expedition is excellent. It is physically demanding and will take the better part of the day, but it is spectacular. Otherwise there are plenty of other great things to do at the resort. My wife and Mom tried the yoga morning class the last time we were there (and will likely do it again next month) and found it to be very good.

You will need your room key to get in to the pool. as it is gated, like at Kidani. The beach is very nice as well (tho tough with my son's wheelchair - he does use their beach wheelchair when there and enjoys being able to join the rest of us for walks).

We love VB and try to get back every winter for a break. It is a great spot to relax and recover from your everyday life. Enjoy!

The pool currently closes at 10PM - same as posted at WDW resorts. The lifeguards close the slide and go off duty around 5pm I believe but the pool is still open.

Thanks for all the tips! We're going on the Friday before MLK day, so I'm guessing it's not going to be as quiet as it has been. We're Floridians.. one native, one acclimated from the north with new, thin blood, so probably no swimming in the ocean for us, lol. Looking forward to seeing the sunrise from the room and just relaxing with DH for a while. I've been sick and we've both been stressed from work. Can't wait to get away, even if it's only for 2 days.
