Staying at the cabins...which loop to request?

We'll be staying in the cabins at the Fort in a week and a half and I just realized I should request a specific loop. We have a 2 year old and 5 year old who will want to go to the pool often but also to the campfire every night. We will probably be taking our stroller, but might be renting at the park so we don't want to walk too far to a bus stop. Which loop would be the best to request?

Also, is it best to do it by phone or in writing?

I'm sure I read this somewhere before but I can't find it now. Thanks in advance for your help.

I should also mention that we won't have a golf cart or bikes but we will have our car (which doesn't help us get around the Fort, of course).

The loop itself doesn't matter as much as where you are in the loop. A couple of the loops are big (2700 & 2800), and it is a bit of a walk from the back of the loop to & from the bus stop, especially with tired little ones. When we didn't rent a golf cart, we just requested "close to the bus stop". Our cabin was about 9 or 10 into the loop, and it was just a short walk. We like the 2600 loop, as it is close to the small pool & laundry. This last time, we just requested the 2600 loop without any bus stop proximity because we rented a golf cart. You could request close to bus stop and close to small pool. Hopefully someone else can point you in the direction of the fax people use. Since we go through AAA, we just tell our TA what we want, and she calls Disney.

I agree 100% with the advice given above by sarahk0204. With the young children that you have, you will need to take a bus to the Meadow pool and to the campfire, no matter what cabin loop you are on. So, the loop itself is not as important to you as your location on the loop in proximity to a bus stop.

The fax number for assignment requests is 407-824-3508

Good luck!

And, welcome to the Disboards!

We were in loop 2100. The first cabin in the loop. It was right across the street from the bus stop. And there is a path from the 2100 loop to the adjoining camper loop. The camping loop ends right across from the meadows. (the meadows is connected to the pool area) This path will cut some of the walk down when going to the pool. I walked with my 5 year old and all of the pool stuff. It is quite doable. We also had a golf cart but would often just walk to the pool.

If you have your stroller you can hang all of your pool stuff on it while you walk to the pool.

ps.....TCD, are you aware of that path? Any pics?
I didn't take any pictures of it.

Am I aware of that path?

But, of course!

I took a look at this on Shan-man's fantastic Google Earth map, and decided to check the distance. Here's what I came up with:

So, it's about 4/10 of a mile to walk it. The OP has a 2 year old and a 5 year old. I guess it's do-able.

So, I'll change my answer. Request the 2100 loop as your first choice, and a cabin close to a bus stop as your second.

You rock TCD!!!! That is a perfect way to show what I was trying (in vane) to explain. :)

Don't be too quick with the compliments. I just realized that I drew the path wrong on the first map.

If you walk this way, you do not want to go into the 1200/1300 loop entrance (as shown in the map I posted above). The sidewalk does not connect there. You want to get on the sidewalk that goes on the outside of the 1300 loop. This sidewalk follows the path of the old FW Railroad, by the way.

This map is more accurate:

As you can see, there is not a significant difference in the length of the walk.

Thank you so much everyone for the advice and the map is awesome TCD! My boys can definitely do that walk to the pool. It looks like we'll request 2100 and if we can't get that then another loop close to a bus stop.

Thanks again guys! My husband and I are so excited to go. We aren't telling the boys we're taking them until we show up. They'll be thrilled!

Thanks for the reminder. Bug spray is already in the car but I probably would have forgotten the flashlight.
