Staying at RPR - Budget Friendly Dining Suggestions?

Need budget friendly dining suggestions for evening dinners. We're a family of five with three hungry teenage boys and staying at RPR for four nights. We'll be eating counter service at the parks in the day but would like to have a casual sit down meal (anything different from the counter service) in the evening that won't break the bank for four nights. We won't have a car, but we're open to taking a taxi off site if necessary. Any suggestions at City Walk or off site would be greatly appreciated.

i don't know what you consider expensive or affordable or budget family friendly.

i suggest you check out www.citywalk.com orlando to see the menus and prices for city walk restaurants.

i would think you could easily find diners for the 5 of you for $100 a night.

if you want cheap, there is Moes, Burger King and Panda Express.
you could probably get by at $55 for the family.

Hard Rock Cafe is a decent price place for dinner.
get an appetizer or two to share, each order their dinner and drink water.
you will not have an expensive dinner there then.

if you have the AAA or APH, some of city walk accepts them, and allows a 10% discount.

orlando coupons have some available for city walk but it includes kids meals.
don't think that would work in your case.
but i did see one for free appetizer when you order 2 regular meals.

finnegans in the studio side has a great menu and it won't break the bank.
very popular with families there.

I would consider conceirge. Have you priced that? It might be more reasonable than you think and in the evenings they have some pretty substantial food options. Maybe not enough for a full meal but enough that you could be happier with something smaller. Overall you might come out ahead!

We are planning on Pastamore' at City Walk. It gets good reviews for taste and portion size. We will also probably do Margaritaville using Maccravens strategy of a couple apps, entrees, and drink water. We have eaten there before and thought the food was good.

We thought about just staying club level and eating what they had but we have 2 people who don't eat pork or beef and did not want to end up having to buy them something seperate anyway.

I also looked at the Great Feast and it would be about $75 or so for 5, that might be an option for you.

if you order the volcano nachos as an appetizer, you will need a couple of more peeps in order to finish it.
it is big!

add 2 house salads, split a couple of sandwiches and you will fill up.
if you have 5 in your group, order 3 sandwiches. (not hamburgers but the sandwich selections. they come with fries)

order starters such as nachos, wings, chicken tenders, very easy to share these.

go with the burgers there!
absolutely affordable and pretty good stuff.

i have gone with the ribs and had to share with others.
could not eat them all especially since i started out with an appetizer.

always drink water.
all the places jack the soda costs up.
but, there are some that have free refills....
those are the places you might want soda.


returned to add that if you are at hrc, anyone one celebrating a birthday gets a free sundae.

i have never seen so many homies in my life go to the section to be sung to and then get the free sundae.....

Nachos at Margaritaville will feed the teens. Order some boneless wings too with sauce on side (a jumbo order of chicken fingers). Split a club sandwich with the spouse (huge).

Thats what we are going to do too! We are doing a 2 week vacation and will be eating out a lot, I was all when I was adding up the cost of soda/drinks with meals. The kids are under strict orders to ask for water unless I tell them different. There are some places they can have shakes or Butterbeer but we will have our sodas back at the rooms.

if you buy a mug in the park, you can have it refilled for a cheap price.
think the going rate now is about .85.

when you buy the mug, they will fill it with soda.


just thought i would pass this info on to you in case the children really want a soda in the park.

the refill policy is only for the parks.

you can bring the mug back each year and reuse it.

i have been doing that for years.............

Margaritaville is surprisingly affordable and a great time. Don't forget Jake's on the first floor of RPH......good food, great portions, and reasonably priced.

Sal's at PB is great. We had a large steak pizza there last week for

only 14.00

They have really good sandwiches also.

We thought the NBA and Nascar cafe were very reasonable for the portions you get.

Also the counter service choices at City Walk were excellent, three different restaurants together (think a mini mall food court) and the prices were great.

Overall we found the food prices at Universal were very reasonable for theme parks.

you can go to their website and check out specials, possible coupons and order on line. TIP: I pre programmed the number in my cell phone before we left home to make use quicker it also allowed me to order from the parks as we were leaving then we met the delivery person at the entrance of the hotel (they can not deliver to rooms)

We absolutely loved Sal's at Portofino, and I felt they had good prices. Pretty authentic pizza to me. We ate there at least once a day for 5 days straight (because it was just too good to pass up).

This time we are staying at RPH, but taking a trip over to Sal's on the boat for a meal at least once.

Sal's is awesome!! Even if you stay at a another hotel, you can go to Citywalk and take a boatride there. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, all good.

Sweet Tomatoes is good from what I have heard. Have not tried though. Also, Houlihans, kids eat free with each adult paying over 13...and it's good!! I can post a list of kids eat free places but I would recommend the above. On vacation and I know you wanna save, but sometimes it's worth quality and no upset tummies.

We find Sal's so reasonable. A large pizza and a salad easily fills three adults and is cheaper than any other dinner we have at Universal. And it is so good.
