Staying at Pop, Poly to view wishes?

We're staying at Pop and will have our car. Our first day, we are arriving in the afternoon and are planning a pool day. Depending on how the evening goes, I was thinking about possibly viewing Wishes from the Poly beach. Is this possible? How would we get there?

If you are dining at the Poly that evening, then you drive right up to the resort gates and they will allow you in for your dinner - then you just stay for fireworks after until you are ready to go home.

If you are not dining at the Poly, but wish to use your own car, then you drive to MK parking, take the tram back to the TTC, and walk about three minutes to the Poly along the marked pathway. Reverse the process to get back to your car afterwards.

If you wish to use WDW transportation, then you take the resort bus from Pop to the MK, and from there you have a couple of options:
--Walk across to the Contemporary (5 minutes), take the monorail two stops up to the Poly and walk out to the beach (10 minutes, total of 15).
--Walk up to the front gates of the MK (3 minutes) and get on the resort launch (boat) to the GF/Poly (15 minutes, total of 18-20).
--Walk up to the front gates of the MK (3 minutes) and take the Resort Monorail line up three stops to the Poly (20ish minutes, total of 20-25).
--To get back to the buses afterwards, take either the monorail or the resort launch back to the gates of MK and walk to the last stop on the right side of the plaza.

Does Poly check room keys to be on the beach for wishes? Last time I was a resort guest there, they did.

Interesting.

We've done this many times, and only twice were we actually staying at the Poly - and we have never been asked for keys? Most recently last November.... we were staying at POR that time.

We have done this too, many, many times, with only twice being overnight guests at the Poly. Not once were we asked for our resort card. Perhaps this is done only during holiday Wishes?

If Poly does kick you out (sounds unlikely), just walk over to the TTC dock - great view of Wishes and they pipe in the music.

I have never done this, but have heard that if you say that you are going to check out the resort and eat at Capt. Cook's, they will give you a three hour parking permit. And if you are going to the Poly, who wouldn't stop and get a Dole Whip??? If for some reason, they told you no, you could pay to valet park there.
When we stayed there, no one was checking room keys on the beach. In fact, there are always TONS of non resort guests at the resort, most for for the luau and 'Ohana. The lobby is crazy crowded every evening.
