STAYING AT THE POLY W/ FAMILY. 1ST TIME MY 2 GIRLS WILL BE TO DISNEY ( 8 & 5 ). HEARD ALOT OF GREAT THINGS . WHAT CAN I EXPECT . FILL ME IN !!!!!

* Polynesian Resort - 2003

Expect a great time!!! Our first time at the Poly was this past July. Stayed first floor Samoa on the quiet pool side. Perfect location. We have stayed at many WDW resorts, but this is my favorite. Transportation is fantastic (monorail, boat to MK, buses). Spend lots of time at the Volcano pool. The slide is a lot of fun. Also make sure you see the EWP and fireworks from the beach.

When going to MK take monorail in am. When coming back from MK take the boat. It's like getting two additional rides.

When you go to Epcot walk from Poly to TTC and take Epcot monorail. It's a short walk and cuts out a lot of time.

Enjoy the coffee and Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe. 'Ohana's has a great character meal (for your kids, of course;) ).

Watch the fireworks from the beach. The Electric Water Pageant starts right after fireworks.

Try the luau.

FYI, Captain Cooks is open 24 hours--great for a late night snack or if you need milk, juice, etc.

DW and I stayed in Tokelau. A couple of the garden view rooms actually have an angled view of the lagoon. Check out Tikiman's site for more info.

The Poly is great!! Take some time to enjoy the tropical grounds. You'll love this resort.

Ditto to all the above. The Polynesian is wonderful. So close to the parks and yet you feel a world away. Magical. Two months and we'll be back.:D

Another thing we enjoy is taking the launch to GF after an MK morning and having lunch at the GF Cafe and then walking back to the Polynesian.

Welcome to the DIS neighbor(I live in Angola)!

We spent our first WDW vacation at the Poly and absolutely loved it!

When taking the mono ask if you can ride in the front. We were lucky enough to do this the very first time we rode the monorail. It was about 30 minutes after we arrived at WDW, a great start to our trip.

The desserts at the Kona Kafe are the best! Try Tonga toast. Using the quiet pools are a great way to wind down after a long day of park hopping. Walk to the TTC to catch the monorail to Epcot! Just walk around the grounds, you'll love the relaxing atmosphere and the music.

What building/room should we stay at the Poly for a great view and close to ttc?

You will love it.......:Pinkbounc

Hmm. what should you experience .. paradise!!!!!
The Poly is our favorite. Just got back from aug. trip for the 7 day FTP. One year we went 3 times because dh had alot of business trips to FL.
Your family will be greeted with leis. You will hear the word aloha from all the cms including the mousekeepers. If you check in around 3 the lobby can be quite busy. We usually check in earlier.
You will enjoy a great view. We only get garden view. This time we had samoa 1602 with great view right in front of the volcano pool. Awesome for the 3 ds.
Like the other posters said the transportation is great. Boat, bus or monorail options. The beach, water parade etc.
You have total access to the marina and all water sports. Easy to rent a mouse boat or just buy some fish food and feed them off the dock. Love 24 hour captain cooks. The grill does close at around 11 p.m. I think.
Also don't forget all those great free childrens activities. The exact times and dates will be listed in your island guide. I dont know the name of it, but there are torch lighting, arcade challenge, my ds personal favorite, free video games for 1 hours twice a week, hula lessons, arts and crafts and movies in the neverland club, (I think this time is something like 12-3) and a parent must accompany the children., pool games at the volcano pool.
Many great dining options like the other posters have said.
The only bad things would be and I strongly advise this, do not, repeat do not feed the ducks. We had little ds 11 feeding them from our patio. We heard a scream and dh ran out the door to find him being attacked by a gaggle of the hungry quackers. (We had the shade shut while the rest of us were getting ready for the day). Only other problem...having to leave and say good bye to that magical paradise.

Expect a paradise!

I was in Aorteroa, and was very close to the pool, GCH, the only thing I was far from was the TTC, but I just took the resort monorail to the TTC and transferred to the EPCOT monorail. Captain Cooks is open 24hrs a day, and you will love that scent they pipe into the lobby, (I can't put my finger on it, either vanilla or something else). There is a downside though, youvwon't want to leave.

We stayed there in Sept. 01. I was able to talk hubby into upgrading from our moderate to the Poly for our upcoming November trip. We fell in love with the place. It is sooo pretty. We love walking around at night with all of the tiki torches lit. We love taking the monorail to the parks - especially Epcot! The buses are so far away there.

One thing that is really nice is the water parade. My kids love it. Plus seeing the castle all lit up from the resort is amazing,

I could write for hours about all of the great things about the polynesian. It's my favorite resort now.

THANKS EVERYBODY! I FINALLY MADE THE RIGHT DECISION AND I HOPE MY DAUGHTERS WILL LOVE THE POLY! KEEP GETTING ME EXCITED W/ YOUR POLY INFO !!!!!!!!

That depends on when the fireworks are, EWP starts in front of the Poly at 9pm nightly.

Keane,

Welcome to the Dis. FYI, please don't type in all caps. It makes it hard to read and is considered shouting, of course there are times when all caps is appropiate here, hehe.

We're going to the Poly Nov 7 for our 16th stay, beware, it's very addictive. I could tell you that "you have to do..." or "you must see ..." but the best advice I can give you is to allow a bit of time to roam the resort. Peruse all the material you're given at check-in and that which is in your room.

Several others who posted were right on the money, Tikiman's web site is great.

BTW, when you first walk through the sliding doors see if you can spot the Hidden Mickey.

I know I am beginning to s ound redundant but can someone recommend the best building and room to stay in with a 3 year old. We would like a balcony, a great view and close to the TTC.

The three buildings that are closest to the TTC all have balconies (or patios if your room is on the first floor). If I were you I would just request room with a balcony near the TTC but not Rapa Nuie parking lot side.:D .

We stayed in Figi in June w/ a 3 yr old. We were on 3rd floor overlooking the marina, even though this is a garden view room. Close to GCH and looked at backside to Volcano pool. Close to Captain Hooks food area which workeed out good for snacks and quick breakfast. 3 yr old son loved sitting on balcony and watching the boats and we could see the monorail coming out of the Contemporary. Also was nice for us parents because we had a great view and peaceful place to go while he took naps or got into bed for the night. Be sure to have a wake up call in the mornings and let the child answer and say hello loud and he will hear Mickey's voice. Worked great to get my son up and moving in the mornings.
