this time next week, we'll be settled in our GV at OKW :love:

couple of questions for you experts:

1. is there wifi at OKW?.....we may have three or four laptops:scared1:

2. when checking in, will each family group be able to put their credit card on their room keys?? total of three family groups

3. where are the bbq grills located?

4. will we have fun - Whooo Hooooo, you bet we will :banana::hippie::yay::dance3::cheer2::cool1::cool1:

1 - no wifi. You'll need to set up a router in your villa.

2 - Should be able to do this, but if you have the dining plan, all credits will be combined.

3 - Near the pools.

4 - Nah, you'll have a lousy time. ;)

Guess all I can say is ditto :thumbsup2 except that I am very jealous! :lmao:

We stayed in a GV last November and LOVED it!. No wifi. We travel with a travel router and have had up to 4 laptops connected.

Unless they have changed the rules only one credit card can by put on the account. Each room key is assigned a number and you can go to the desk the evening before check out and have the charges for your card detailed and can then pay them with a different credit card.
Have a great trip OKW GVs are the best!

Yes, they have changed the system.

We had a GV in Bldg 22... Loved every minute...didn't use the wifi as I got a month of 3G for my I-pad. Rented points then...now a proud owner, :cool1: but won't be bringing a router with us in November....too much hassle

I have brought my router from home. All I did was remove the cable from the back and unplug it (bring the power cord). Then when I got to the resort, plug in the power & the cord in the room and it worked immediately (since it was already setup for my laptop). Then my friend searched for the signal, found it and I gave her my password.

I agree. We set up a router in our GV and it took less than five minute. I just stuck the CD that came with the router into my laptop and it did all the work.

We have a cheap Netgear Wireless G Router we picked up at a sale at Radio Shack. We set it up at home just once. When we get to our DVC home all we have to do is plug in the power supply and the Ethernet chord that DVC has permanently wired into the wall. It works well with our MacBooks, Windows Notebook, iPod touch, iPad, and, iPhones when we set them for wi-fi. Of course it's password protected.

Yes, they have changed the system.

Do I understand correctly that now when that when different families (staying in the same villa) check in, each family can use a different credit card for their charges? That would sure be handy!

Yes, they can do this. One word of caution... after they set it up you might want to double check that it's working after a few days. We were in the Treehouses last month with three different credit cards being charged. Although the two other parties provided their cards on check-in day, all charges were going to our account. We realized this when we went over our limit unexpectedly. (I tend to shop, but sheesh! not that much! :scared1:)

They were able to fix it (manually - it took about 10/15 minutes or so), but if we hadn't caught it, squaring up at the end would have been a hassle. The CM said it wasn't anything done wrong at check-in, but just a system glitch.

After they fixed it, everything flowed through correctly. Each card issued it's own statement at check out time - that was helpful too - we could ensure that everything was allocated correctly.

Thanks for the information. We have a big extended family trip coming up in Feb. 2012, with 3 different families in a GV, 2 different in a 2-bedroom, etc., so the ability for each family to use a credit card is nice. I'll discuss with everyone the need to check and see that they're working correctly.

I wonder if they can just get a print out after 2 days to make sure it's working correctly.

You should be able to get a print out after a couple of days. They gave us the "before" and "after" so we could see that things were reallocated. I'm just glad that we caught it before leaving. I would not have wanted to manually figure all of that out! :teacher::teacher::teacher::teacher:

When we were there at the end of May the CM gave us a head's up when we registered that the software had been updated and they were still working on getting all the glitches fixed. And there definitely were glitches we needed addressed.

We were there in early June when they did the update. Was only supposed to last a few hours, lasted nearly a day. And there were still problems.
