Staying at Hyatt MCO - didn't need to select a PAT on checkin

On a related note, can someone tell me approx. how much it costs for a family of 4 to stay one night at Hyatt MCO and get transfers to/from port? Working on my budget- thanks!

Rates vary by night. Just go to the Hilton site and enter your dates and party information. Transfers are provided by DCL and are $35 per person one way

Ok, thanks. Also, it looks like Hyatt MCO can be booked thru DCL or directly by contacting the hotel- are there advantages/disadvantages to doing it either way? I think what I've read so far is that the prices are the same (so not an advantage or disadvantage) but that people who booked the hotel themselves needed to choose a PAT, whereas the people who booked thru DCL didn't need to do that... I'm not clear on which is better? Thanks!

The rate isn't always the same. Some folks here have reported that you can get a better rate on hotels.com vs. DCL. I checked into it and it wasn't the case for me. One thing I did find though was that hotels.com quotes a PRE-tax rate while DCL quoted me a rate including taxes. So I thought, "Bonus! I'll save $10 and book through hotels.com." Then I started to check out on hotels.com and it added tax so I just kept my reservation with DCL.

If the price is the same, for me, I prefer to book through DCL so I can use Disney gift cards (that I bought from Target using my red card for 5% off). So in the end, it's technically slightly cheaper for me to go directly through DCL.

Otherwise, if the price is the same, is six of one, half dozen of the other. I guess it's also nice having all your reservations in one place?

We are in the same boat. Hyatt MCO and disney bus to port canaveral. We also did not receive a PAT, and from what I can tell, it's because we will be using disney transportation. I have heard "oh, that means they'll let you right on the ship when you get there" but I'm not sure if that's true. Would love to hear some recent experiences with this.

Edit: we are not concierge.

Well if you get there early enough, they won't be boarding yet. You'll get your boarding number and it'll be low. Concierge and platinum go first. If boarding has already started, I don't know what happens.

280$ round trip total for your family of 4
We have 2 double beds AAA at the Hyatt 188$ plus tax. I keep checking every couple weeks to see if there is movement.
Last trip we got boarding number 2. First 50 people on the ship. On the ship at 1130.

My wife and I have been on 2 Disney Cruises (about to be 3). Both times we have booked the Hyatt on our own and the bus transfers through Disney. Both times we got to the check in desk early and were on the first bus to the port. Even thought both times we have a PAT we were still given the number 2 boarding number and were allowed to board.

We have done the same thing for this coming cruise.

A quick update. I called DCL to ask about this and was told that if you have booked transfers via DCL (buses) then your PAT does not matter. Hyatt or no Hyatt.

I have heard this several times before. Our expirence certainly mirrors this.

We just returned from our cruise yesterday. We stayed at the Hyatt, booked through DCL, non-concierge, taking Disney transfers. We did not/could not choose a PAT when doing online check-in. We were assured by DCL that when they scan you in at the ME desk in the airport the port knows when to expect you (they said when booked through them they treat the Hyatt like a WDW resort) ... Anyways, we got on the bus around 10:00, were given boarding group number 2 and were able to board the ship immediately - this was around 11:30 by the time we arrived at the port and checked in. We were completely surprised by this - we had expected that we would have to wait at least an hour or so to board.

Sounds like they already started boarding and that is why you were able to board as soon as you were checked in. Boarding usually starts around 11:15-11:30 and as mentioned Concierge and Platinum go first and then boarding groups 2, 3, 4, etc. until they call open boarding. Boarding number 2 always means you board pretty quickly.

What I am trying to say is that you were allowed to board immediately because boarding had already started...not specifically because you took the DCL bus.
