Hi, I'll be staying at the GF and thought that I had heard that resort parking is no longer free, even if you are a guest at that hotel.
Just wondering if anyone can let me know if I can park for free or not.
Also, if I'm wrong and I can park for free, then wondering if I'll also be able to park free at the Contemporary for our dinner there during our stay.

Thanks for any info you may have.

You will be charged for parking at the resort you are staying at. You can park for free at the parks and when visiting other resorts.

You can park for free at the parks and if visiting another resort. You will pay $25 a night for parking as a guest of a Deluxe Disney resort.

You will (probably) be charged for overnight parking at your resort. You will not be charged if you park at another resort to eat/shop.

I say probably because they've been super inconsistent with charging for parking. People without cars have been charged, some people with cars have not been charged.

Yes parking charge applies to guests who book reservations on or after March 21, 2018. It is for overnight parking so you will only pay at the GF. The price was last adjusted this past June.

For reservations made before June 18, 2019 for arrivals in 2019 or 2020:
  • Disney Value Resorts: $13 per night
  • Disney Moderate Resorts: $19 per night
  • Disney Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts: $24 per night
For reservations made June 18, 2019 and thereafter for arrivals in 2020:
  • Disney Value Resorts: $15 per night
  • Disney Moderate Resorts: $20 per night
  • Disney Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts: $25 per night

The inconsistency never seems to apply to me! I stayed at Contemporary last year and was charged (as expected). Darn.

Thanks everyone, so just to make sure I have this straight... I will be charged to park at the GF, where I am staying.
If I drive to the Contemporary for our dinner, I have an ADR, I will not be charged, correct?

And again, thanks so much :)

According to your signature, you are a DVC Member and will be staying at a DVC Resort. If that's correct, you will NOT be charged the daily resort parking fee. You can visit other resorts and can self park for free for dining, etc. as long as there is space available.

If you have a handicap placard/plate it is also free for overnight parking at your resort.

@karensi as @erionm pointed out above since you are a DVC owner you will not be charged for parking at GF. As as a guest at the CR you will not be charged to self-park. Here is the relevant Disney provided information:

Disney Vacation Club Members

Members will not be charged for standard overnight self-parking when staying at a DVC Deluxe Villa, regardless of whether they use vacation points or another form of payment. Members also will not be charged to park when using vacation points to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel.

I'm one of the ones who didn't have a car and was charged, so it applied to me but not in a good way. 😄

Why go through the hassle of driving from the GF to the Contemporary, having dinner there & then driving back from the Contemporary to the GF, when you can just hop on the monorail?

I was wondering that too. Just use the monorail.

Add to that, I think parking at Contemporary is extremely limited. Better to take the monorail.

If you’re DVC and staying at the Hotel side - I think you’ll still have to pay - it’s only DVC at the DVC Villas that is free...right?

Never mind - just saw the comment about DVC and Hotel side - good to know!

But still think this is saying if at one of the non-DVC resorts on cash - you pay

If you are staying on DVC points at a Disney hotel, you are staying on your membership. So you don't pay to park at that hotel. If you pay cash, you pay to park.

If you stay at a DVC resort on points, you don't pay for parking either. Book your cash night through DVC, also no pay for parking.
