Staying at DLH after GCV opens

What I'm wondering is if the points are going to go up astronomically, like the wdw hotels.

Thanks very much. We were on the founding members list for GCV. With the 100 point minimum and too high point charts for GVC we decided not to purchase. DL is our fav park and we would love to go back but on points!:thumbsup2

Remember that points for the DLR Hotels will go up over the years but the VGC points will stay the same. 5+ years from now VGC will probably look like a bargin.

I absolutely agree! However the minimum is way more than what we budgeted to add on and the point charts were higher than what I anticipated :scared: so it will be Hojo/Embassy Suites on cash or DLH on points from now on:goodvibes

The 100 point minimum add-on actually made the decision easy for us. There is no way that I feel comfortable buying 100 points to use to book stays more than 7 months out at the DL resort. We live about 4 hours from DL and although we stayed 9 nights at a resort near DL during our last AP, none of those were booked more than 4 months in advance. We have no trips planned for DL in 2009, but do have 2 trips planned for WDW.

In addition, we really like staying at the PP. Even then, we won't stay at PP if the price is out of line with other nearby hotels. I think the most we ever paid was $139 plus tax and resort fee. While I realize these prices will go up, the $10,700 I keep in the bank, plus about $400 per year in MF will help compensate for those added expenses for many years. -- Suzanne

I personally think if GCV sell out as quickly as people think Disney will be scrambling to add more DVC rooms very quickly. In fact I'm sure there is already some kind of plan in play already. I really believe that booking at 7 months will be less of an issue in the future. In the meantime I will also be using my points at PPH because the 100pt minimum is also too rich for my blood and the point chart doesn't thrill me either.

That may be true, but DVC's next project will be selling 480 Hawaii rooms to the West Coast market for at least a few years. I don't think they'll plan to build another DL DVC until Hawaii is almost sold out to not dilute those sales... I'm not happy with the high point charts, but I'm not surprised since GCH is the premier resort at DL. Overall though the points themselves will be cheaper for me than my SSR points due to the lower MF's. Let's hope they don't go up too much once the resort is open.
