Staying at disney resorts

When booking useing Vacation club points, Is it possible to stay in a standard resort room useing the vacation club points such as a moderate or deluxe resorts or are they locked at booking only into the vac club resorts?

You can but they use up alot of points.
Mods >standard veiw >value sea. Sun/thur 15 fri/sat 27 >Hol sea.sun/thur 21 fri/sat 38

Also they convert to reservation points and can't be put back as vacation points.

Go to the DVC home page...
There's a drop-down menu that lists the resorts you can stay at
"outside" of DVC! This is called the "Disney Collection." Here you'll
find the "Point Charts" for the moderate & deluxe resorts.

It is a much better value to stay at one of the DVC resorts as the rooms are larger and the points per stay are much less.

You can use youor points to stay at any resort on WDW property, but the best use of points is to stay at a DVC property.

When you start going to a regular resort using points, the point per night cost increases significantly.

Of course, they are your points to do with as you wish.

To get the most bang for your buck, it looks like DVC resorts are the way to go. But if you have your heart set on a specific resort, why not stay in that resort for a night or two so you don't have to convert too many points for regular hotel stays? This way, you will get more time using less points at the World...

Ok...here's a breakdown using the charts from 2005...

Disney's Beach Club Studio Sun - Thurs 12 pts./day Fri-Sat 22 pts/day
Grand Fla Gard. View Sun - Thurs 39 pts/day Fri-Sat 70 pts/day
AKL pool view Sun -Thurs 29 pts/day Fri-Sat 70 pts./day


So if you stayed in a Studio at the Beach Club in January for a full week it would come out to a grand total of 104 pts, but if you stayed at the Grand Fla in a Garden View room for the same week it would cost you 335 pts, and AKL in a Pool View room it would cost you 285 pts.

Keep in mind this is Value Season, using the most standard rooms available...go during any other season or upgrade your room and the points go way up. (Grand Fla Holiday Season same room cost for the week 516 pts., or the same value season week for Concierge level costs 577 pts. at Holiday this concierge would costs 826 points) and the Beach Club would be 181 pts. for the holiday week.

Hope this answers your question, and why DVC'ers don't ususually use their points when staying in a non-dvc hotel and they also go off property for Fri and Sat also!
