We are camping at Fort Wilderness for 10 days, but spending one night at Coronado Springs before we go to FW. (Unless something comes up at Pop Century.)

We could choose AK, but the price seems steep for us to be arriving in the evening, possibly after dark and then leaving the next morning. So we're going with Coronado Springs.

We'll have 2 small kids and we'll be needing to entertain/feed them for the evening. We'll leave the next morning after (hopefully) sleeping in.

Thanks!

Just take them to the main pool area. There is a playground there and the pool is awesome. You could also rent a surrey bike or watermice too. If you have a rental car, you're also close to two mini golf locations, one to the left and one to the right out of the entrance.

Is the playground well-lit at night? Also, how far up the pyramid can you go? I saw a picture with kids on it but I wasn't sure.

Thanks!

Good news is you are only staying one night at that resort.

FW is so much better then CSR...

If you can, get another mod for a night. POR/FQ be really nice for a one night stay. FQ moreso due to smaller size.

PM if you want details about CSR.

We stayed at CSR for a week in June and loved it. DD7 and DS3 loved it too! The pool is great. The pyramid is for decoration. I see some kids sitting on the lower steps but would not let mine play on it or anything. Mine loved to go to the Pepper Market, get icecream and sit outside on the esplanade and watch the baby gator in the pool. They loved the pool and DS loved the playground. Not sure about how well lit it is at night, only went during the day. My son also loved the gift shop. There is a small table and chairs in the middle with a toy castle and figures to play with. It was great. I could browse for gifts and he'd sit for as long as I'd let him stay and play with the castle. We just enjoyed being outside at this resort!

We loved CSR. We love it so much after many trips that instead of staying at the Deluxe Polynesian next year for our 25th wedding anniversary, we decided to stay at the CSR yet again. Our kids, when they were younger and traveled with us, loved it too! We recommended it to three sets of friends (two of them brought their children and grandchildren) and they can't wait to go back. If you want any information, feel free to PM me.

:) :) :)

You know, to be perfectly honest, this response has done nothing to sway me to stay at CS. Frankly, I feel badly that a poster has to PM me because he isn't free to say what he thinks about a resort without being bashed by the resort's fans. And to have one of those fans PM me ONLY to tell me not to listen to that poster frustrates me, because I'm trying to select the best resort for my family. As fantastic as CS may be, it is impossible that it is the best resort for everyone. So I appreciate Mayl's note's to me. Some of what he said in his PM was actually quite useful to us.

So if you have a problem with Mayl, please do not PM me to hash it out. I don't really care if you suspect he has never stayed there. That's not pertinent to my question.

The Swan had fans as passionate about that resort and I wish I had listened to the people who tried to tell me it wasn't that great, because I ended up hating it.

As I have often stated (as have others), it ends up being a person's personal preference. Some people love the Grand Floridian. Truthfully, I would never consider staying at it...it's just not our style. Some people love the Beach Club...also not our style. We have stayed at the All-Star...we didn't like it. We've stayed at the Polynesian and the Contemporary...liked them both, but can't see spending the money. We prefer the CSR because of the things it offers, the beauty of the resort, the service we have always received and the quietness of the resort after spending the day at the loud parks. I suggest you try what you think you want to do and make your own decision based on your experience.

I think CSR is a wonderful resort. The main pool area is wonderful and we had a very nice dinner at Maya Grill one night, which is their full service restaurant. It was nice and quiet in there, perfect for a quiet, relaxing dinner. The whole resort is very relaxing and quiet.

I also have to say POFQ might be really good for your needs. Its much smaller, you could ride the boat over to Downtown Disney for dinner and their pool and pool slide is great for younger kids.

CSR is so lovely, as are POR and CBR. But they are all very large, great for a long stay when you have the time to enjoy all they have to offer. Or a short stay when you can get a feel for them without investing too much of your vacation! I just have to say that for a short stay, when you want to relax and given the young kids you have, POFQ might be a real winner too.

Whatever you decide, you'll have a great vacation, enjoy your planning!

You can't go up the pyramid at all, they have it blocked off with these branch type things. But its very impressive and adds a fun flare to the pool area! I am not sure about if the playground is lit or not, I would be surprised if it wasn't. There is also a nice arcade right there your kids might enjoy. If your kids are not strong swimmers, know that they cannot go down the slide. They don't allow vests to be worn by little kids. At the POFQ pool however, I believe very young children can ride down that much smaller slide (which looks like a serpent's tongue, very cute) with their parents.

I am looking forward to my CSR trip and I appreciate all of the effort Buzz puts into the information it is a big help.

I agree. CSR would be my first choice over POFQ/POR any day of the week. Posters like Mayl are just trying to
:stir: .

CSr is lovely and the play area is great. It's only one night so it's not going to make or break your stay. I've stayed at POR and had a great trip once and one that was so awful we won't even consider going back there. Anyone can have a bad experience at a specific resort so it's hard to just go by opinions. Does CSR offer what you want? It's pretty, the food there is great, the pool is way better than POR though if your kids are small the one at POFQ is good for that. CSR transportation is the best of all the resorts but you may not be using it (since you're arriving at night and leaving the next morning) so that may not be an issue for you. Wherever you stay will be just fine for one night and they all have plenty to do so stay at the place that appeals to you.

Have a frozen Margarita in the bar...and enjoy the buffett breakfat at the Maya Grill. It is my favorite breakfast on the property.

I am glad that folks do appreciate different opinions about the resorts.

Blind loyality to anything can be a hazard and there is nothing wrong with people having different views of the properties.

I don't get personal and won't lower myself to sending PM about other posters and things like that. Sorry, a tad more mature then that.

My only issue is that if anyone has an opinion that is not "pro-resort" they are shouted down and said to be trolling.

Not all resorts are for all people. Really that simple. We love FW cabins for example, but clearly that does not fit the needs for all disney vactions.

CSR has some positives, but there are also a handful of negatives that can be deal breakers for many guests. There is nothing wrong with sharing that info.

You're right and when it is expressed in the manner above, it's fine but that's not your usual MO. You usually just like to come on here and blast away.

I have been to WDW many times and have always stayed at ASMusic. However, this time decided to splurge a bit and stay at a moderate --CSR. I plan on enjoying every moment, because after all --I will be at the Magical Place called Disney World. Can't wait til tomorrow---first stop after ME drops us off----CSR :cool1: :dance3: :cheer2:

Having stayed at both, I love Pop and didn't care too much for CSR. Nothing terrible, but poor mousekeeping and unfriendly CM's. I would keep trying for Pop, after all why spend alot for 1 night? You won't have enough time to enjoy the amenities at CSR, the extras like a spa and salon. Basically just enough time to use the pool once, maybe the playground, and sleep.
