Staying at Cabana Bay. What time should I leave for early entry?

If early entry hours start at 8 when should I get on the bus to ensure I am there on time after the bus ride and security check? Does the line start outside of the park or are you let inside early like at Disney to roam until you hit the roped off areas? During my trip only IOA is early entry. Any tips?

Here now. We walked over yesterday at 7:45 and arrived at 8:04. Gates did not open for people to walk in until after 8:15. That was where we started comparing Universal to Disney. Disney would have had gates open early and cast members directing traffic.
But even after that we still had a great time and left the parks about 5 pm.
We have express passed and did most of what we wanted to do yesterday. Slept in today. Road the shuttle over about 12- took about 10 minutes, walked through and ate lunch at City Walk. Kids are now riding a few favorites. Rip Ride Rocket now. Once yesterday was enough for me.

Generally, they start letting you in 15 minutes early. I always make sure I am there at least a half an hour before.
