We are staying at the Boardwalk for the fist time at the end of October. any advice for our 3 night stay that includes my wife and son (6)? staying in a deluxe standard room.. what kind of requests should I ask for? any cool things to do at the resort ect

Stay away from "near elevator/lobby" requests. That will put you close to the luggage truck loading area. Visit the community activity building, you son may enjoy it.

We love BWV! Yes, definitely visit the Community Hall--free craft activities (and a few 'fee' ones), toys/games to play with including video games, free DVD rental for DVC members, always a Disney movie playing in there, ping pong/pool outside. There used to be a free arcade game (Ms Pac Man/Galaga) and air hockey inside--but I thought I'd heard people say they're gone since we were there in February. The Community Hall is by the 'quiet pool', there is also the feature pool with the 'Keister Coaster clown slide'--there are activities there for the kids during the day--dance parties/pool games, etc. Some nights there will be movies under the stars in the 'village green' area (on the boardwalk side). Nightly entertainment ON the boardwalk--street busker style--magicians, jugglers, etc. There are kiosks selling some food/drinks as well.

If I were 6 I could eat at Beaches and Cream every night. The street performers are fun to watch in the evening as well. My kids also enjoy the short walk over to Fantasia Gardens for mini golf. We are probably not the norm, but we tend to stay close to the resort and enjoy the Boardwalk area.

any good eateries around
There are a few table service restaurants on the Boardwalk--Flying Fish, Big River Grille and Brewing Works, Trattoria al Forno, ESPN Club. There are also 2 adult clubs--Atlantic Dance Hall and Jellyrolls (dueling piano bar). Of all of those, we've only been to Trattoria al Forno with the family and DH and I have been to Jellyrolls a couple of times. BWV is in easy walking distance to Epcot (International Gateway entrance--between France and the UK) and to Hollywood Studios--as well as easy walk to the Swan and Dolphin hotels, and the Yacht and Beach Club resorts--so there are tons of places to choose from, most of the Disney ones require a reservation, but if you're on the early side, you could probably get in as a walk in at some of the hotel restaurants. There is also the Boardwalk Bakery and Ample Hills Ice Cream on the Boardwalk, as well as 'the pizza window.'

I would 2nd the Boardwalk entertainment at night, my grandkids at that age loved it. Bicycle your way around the Boardwalk/Beach Club area (rental per half hour), bicycle built for 2, 4 or 6. Disney movies are shown nightly on the Village Green area on a blow up screen. Carnival games for ball toss etc. You all will have a great time!

We will also be staying at BWV for the first time this year. So excited! Can anyone let me know what type of coffee makers are in the Studios? I would appreciate it. Thanks!

All DVC hotels have the standard Mr. Coffee which takes round bottomed filters. If your studio has a small one you can call housekeeping to get the larger model. Bring coffee and filters with you.

Studio or one bedroom? Car or no car? Dining Plan or not? If no car or dining plan, I would take my rolling suitcase across the street to the Speedway gas station. There you can find cases of water, wine, beer and food for much less than anything on property. Just be really careful when crossing...most people don't pay attention when looking for the entrance to the BoardWalk! Use your microwave to reheat their breakfast sandwiches etc. Your youngster will love the nightly entertainment on the Boardwalk. And make sure you pick up the itinerary (and ask for it at check in) regarding the "smores campfire" conditions permitting. The main pool also has a daily "pool party"...not sure of the time, the itinerary should have the details. If you are only staying 3 nights, you should make sure you carve out one day for Magic Kingdom....use your 60 day fast pass privilege to garner Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. And of course you want to use your 60 day advantage to get a fast pass for the Pandora stuff at Animal Kingdom. The Boardwalk Bakery has lots of things to eat for breakfast, lunch and whatever.

Wow thanks for all the advice. We are staying in a studio with no car. We are there a few days and then transfer over to jambo house concierge level for 4 days then take a cruise on oasis of the seas royal Caribbean

Wow, I am very jealous....in a good way! From what I can garner about Jambo club level, you don't need to worry about a thing there. The Speedway across from Boardwalk, if you want to save some $$$, is a good option in my opinion. We always go through water and wine and beer like crazy, and if you are on a budget, on property prices are crazy!

I did do the Star Wars Dessert Party (don't know if that is still available)....and it was nice to walk back to BWV from that. I would concentrate my fast passes on Hollywood Studios and Epcot I think for your first part of your reservations, and then AK and MK for second part. Then again....if your BWV gives you a better opportunity for Pandora (a few days ahead) you should take advantage. Sorry, I know that was not your original question...but if you want to see Pandora, you should take advantage of your first fast pass opportunity.

Just wanted to add...we almost never take the boat to Epcot. We always walk and always "beat the boat" there. And our favorite place for lunch is the Fish and Chips place, it is right there after you walk thru check in, bear to the left, and it is on your right. Enjoy your trip!

Funnel cakes!!!!

I'm thinking this place is a lot of fun to stay at with what I read from everyone's comments. Very excited

For the smores activity, its just roasted marshmallows. If you want Smores you will need your own graham crackers and Hershey's chocolate.

Riding the boat to Epcot. Look and see where the boat is. If it is at Yacht and Beach and coming to BW next, it will most likely beat your walk. If its not there yet, you can probably walk faster.

But if you are tired and have tired feet, sit down and wait!

Since you have a standard room, if you are near the tennis courts, go out the back door to walk to Hollywood Studios. It's a nice walk and actually not that much further than the walk to the boat at BWV and the walk from the boat at HS.

Ride the boat back. All that walking just wore you out!

I'll be there early November for my annual F&W visit.
