I was at Lido Beach some years back. It is quiet and laid back. It is near Sarasota on the Gulf Coast.

We stayed at the Sheraton Sand Key near Clearwater Beach last month and loved it.

We spent 7 days at Disney last August and then booked 4 nights at the Mariott Suites on Sand Key (near Clearwater Beach). We drove each day to Clearwater beach. It is beautiful there! Nice white sand, and blue water. Very pretty. My kids (ages 4, 7, 9) enjoyed it too, although they absolutely adored the pool at our Marriott hotel.

Hi Aaronandterri,

As on our previous visit to Clearwater we have stayed on at Sandy beach near clearwater beach. We loved it a lot we spent our time mostly in the beach as my kids wanted to enjoy and we had a geat time during our stay the staff was cooperative and it was well maintained. We have been booked our room through springvacationrentals.com, so i suggest u to check the website in which they are many properties displayed that would make u think about....:) Have a coool trip........:cool1:

We always have a trip to stay at the beach when in Florida, couldn't think of not doing one!

We've stayed at Sand Key (Clearwater), St Pete Beach a few times then further down south on Marco Island (my personal fave), Naples and Fort Myers beach.

For your family, I would suggest St Petes Beach because there will be something for everyone.

The beach is great with plenty of shelling (the Floridian gulf coast pasttime!) for everyone, wonderful sunsets to watch each evening, great restaurants, amazing boat trips for dolphin watching, snorkelling, fishing or just simply chilling out.

thanks - ill have a look at that website and the hotels you mentioned
the dis rocks! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Check out Siesta Key near Sarasota. The sand is perfect - white and powdery. There are a lot of condos right on the beach that would accomodate your whole party if you want.

We stayed at Tradewinds Island grand beach resort in St. Pete's Beach. It is Great!!! We stayed there for 4 nights and had a blast. They have several restaurants, a variety of pools, adult pool, kiddie, family pool... They have peddle boats that you can take around the resort, very cool. We were there in October and they had alot of Halloween activities, such as a scary, haunted peddle boat ride. The beach is great it includes huge beach trikes to ride in the ocean. we also did a dolphin excursion that was really cool and went to shell island for shelling. We had a car and we NEVER left the resort! We stayed in a 2 room suite with a little kitchen oceanfront view. Rooms looked very new and clean.
