Staying at AKL, do we need magic bands to enter the main pool?

I stayed at AKL in May and no you don't need a Magicband to enter both pool areas (you are allowed to use both Jambo and Kidani pools regardless of where you are staying). The doors are unlocked so anyone can enter, including non resort guests.

The only resort that checks to see if you're a hotel guest is Beach/Yacht club.

We did a split stay in August, and you are correct that you don't need a MagicBand at AKL. We were able to use the pool without tapping in.

However, we definitely needed our MagicBand (or a card) to get into either pool at the Poly. There wasn't a person there checking, but you needed something to unlock the door and allow entry.

I was going to say this about the Poly too! I don't remember the Lodge, because we laughed that we always ended up behind the same family that held the door open for everyone walking through and the dad's made a joke about how if you hold the gate open for your family you are bound to be there for at least 5 minutes!

AKL has bathrooms (that don't require a card) on the other side of the pool in-between the Mara and the game room. This is assuming you're talking about Jambo, I've never been to Kidani's pool
