Staying at a value resort, how do you deal with all the noise?

We noticed less toilet noise if we kept the bathroom door closed. Usually we were so tired that we slept so soundly that we never noticed any noise.

We will have to try keeping the bathroom door shut. It usually had no problems falling asleep at night, however I am one of this wierd people that wakes easily after gtting a few hours of sleep. I was waking up to toilets flushing at 4 or 5 in the morning, and then having a hard time falling back asleep. Then it seemed liked the flushing really picked up about 6 or 7. I am going to stop by bed bath and beyond later to see if they have the white noise machine. I checked the website for them, and they have nothing. Thanks for all the suggestions. You know, know that I think about I do remember waking up early in the CR, due to the music in Chef Mickeys. I guess that was not too bad, because it was 7am. Atleast it was light by then!

I carry my white noise machine with me wherever I travel! Works for me...and by the way, I hate hearing this about the values, because I'm booked in one for Jan. First time stay, and you're not encouraging me!!!

I never leave home without the noise machine!

sports was sooo crowded, we had a corner room that had a little corridor of grass and chairs,I loved it ^^until all though the night huge busses dropped off entire classes of kids who of course were loud and excited and decided to sit and wait for their room assignments, wow hundreds of kids and when they finally settled in, am came and guess what, that was their meeting place for deciding what pk to go to for the day, but my point was we went to rite aid and got this cute alarm clock with sounds in it streams and waterfalls and birds it was only $20 bucks and also a great alarm clock, runs on batteries

We always take a small "white noise" machine. Ours is an air purifier. When we stay at the All Stars we request a 2nd or 3rd floor room. Lots of traffic on the first floor. We just stayed at the BCV and there were children running and shouting in the halls quite a bit, so there is noise everywhere.

We were at Pop this past August and my daughter complained that she couldn't sleep. She said that it was too quiet. We followed all suggestions seen on these boards, and we never had a problem. My only request when booking the room was for a room in a quiet location. I guess that it was! I did have a noise machine that I put on the second night just to produce some white noise for my daughter to sleep with. I got our machine at a yard sale. When we moved over to POFQ, the AC made some noise, so we didn't need our own noise machine.

We actually do bring a big box fan! :)

We have also found that 1st floor rooms are the noisiest, so we ask for upper floors.

Agree. I've seen some threads which OP complained about noise at deluxe and Moderate. So this is nothing about "Value resorts" This problem is happening everywhere.

We also bring a box fan from home. We can't sleep without one anyway. It works great...best $10 spent!! LOL Good Luck!!

I picked up a small personal fan on sale at Wal-Mart for $5.00. It is so small and lightweight that it packs easily. It is great for creating white noise.
Also, close your bathroom door when you are not using it and ask for an upper floor room at the end of the hall.....a corner room is great!

Have a great trip!

We bring along a small white noise machine and have had no problems.

Before we started doing this, my spouse would tune the radio between stations to produce the static "hissing" sound and that worked just fine for white noise. He has also done this with the tv by turning it to a channel with no station and leaving it on for the hissing sound. If he does that and it isn't just black on the screen then he will turn the contrast all the way to dark to eliminate the light from the the tv screen.

Hope these suggestions help!

I stay at the values quite often and have never had an issue with noise.

The noise issues come with :

1. The main pool is located very close to some of the value rooms.

The themed pools at the mods and deluxes are set away from the rooms.

Tip: Ask for a room facing away or located a ways from the main pool.

2. Turbo toilets

The Values are newer and have the turbo toilets.

Tip: Close your bathroom door at night because noise travels through the plumbing.

3. Connecting rooms

About 50% of the value rooms have connecting doors.

Noise will travel under the connecting doors in a room.

Tip: If you have noisy neighbors open your connecting door and place a rolled up bath towel on the floor between then close and lock your connecting door.

Some guests find that a fan or a white noise machine helps them to sleep better.

These tips should help you get a restful sleep wherever you choose to stay.

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

We carry our box fan everywhere. No one in my family can do without it. Blocks out any noise that seems to bother us.:thumbsup2 Good luck with your decision.

If you are going during a slower time and the resort is not fully occupied, you can ask for a room that is away from the main crowd if possible. You may end up in a further location, but there may be fewer people. They may be able to accomodate. I know once at POP during T'giving--right after POP opened--we asked for a quiet location and ended up with no one in the rooms adjacent to ours.:)

DH and I have stayed at ASMu 2 x and have never really been bothered by any noise. Sure there are the toilets flushing and people walking buy the room but that is easily taken care of by our Sleepmate!! We got ours at JC Penney online years ago and don't go anywhere without it. We leave in 6 days :cool1: and our extra one is already packed!
