Staying at a DTD resort as opposed to onsite.

I've been looking at the POP picture thread and it look AWESOME!! Lol.

Almost more disney than the others!

Jack's also got very excited about teh different themes....I wouldn't like a ground floor room though. But that's easily solved!

Wow, might have decided.

We can only take a weeks work holiday really, so i looked at 5 nights POP and 2 nights deluxe - and 2 nights DX is more than 5 night Pop!!!

Thanks Gemmy - a lot of votes for POP! Surprises me! Lol. I guess I kinda just assumed value means crappity.

When we stayed in a value I was pleasntly surpised, we stayed at Music and thought it fine, would try any of the values again as alway read good stuff about them all.

We didnt want a ground floor room either, we requested a top floor room and got that, we were in the 80's/90's section which was fab and really close to the main building .

We love DTD and crossroads (which is why we bought at DVC at Saratoga Springs Resort). Many years ago we stayed at the Grosvenor Resort (it may called something else now) and we just walked to DTD and used the transport there. I think you used to be able to get resort buses then but you definately can't now but only park buses. It did not feel the same as staying on site but it was handy in the evenings with lots of dining options as we always drink in the evenings we need to be able to walk or bus it.

I have never understood the notion that the DTD hotels are "offsite". They are all actually on WDW property. They are not obviously Disney themed.
We have stayed at the Hilton for years and have never really had a problem with the buses provided. They run every 30 minutes. You can walk to DTD and the crossroads (heck - you can actually walk to the Premium outlets if you want to!).
The hilton also has EMH.
We are staying at the GF in just over a week for the first time so it will be interesting to see if my view on hotels changes after it or we return to the hilton next time!

We stayed in the Grand Floridan and much prefer Saratoga Springs for both accommodation space and location.

we stay in values to dvc every year,we tend to do a mix of both.we love pop and are staying there this year befor checking into vilas at AKL
