planning on staying for 3 weeks next year. We don't want to borrow points from next use year so thinking if we used out points for Mon - frid and did cash nights for weekends. with out DS medical needs we really don't wont to have to move rooms .

how complicated is it to do points mon-frid and cash for the weekends without any hassles

Weekend cash availability will depend on the time of year and your chosen resort. Also, there is no rhyme or reason with the timing when DVC releases cash rooms for booking. So, you may not know until closer to your travel dates whether you have secured lodging for your entire stay. Your strategy will work well if you are happy with making back-up reservations elsewhere in the event your cash nights don't come through. OKW and SSR are the best bets for your strategy.

And some room categories reportedly cannot be booked for cash: BWV BW view and SV and BCV 2 BR dedicated with 2 queens. There may be others. So book other options if you plan to supplement points reservations with those booked with cash.

Or save yourself the trouble and borrow points for this trip and worry about using cash for reservations next trip!

Best of luck -- Suzanne

Also check with MS to see whether they will GUARANTEE that you will not have to move if you are combining cash and points.

Also, it appears that Disney may be changing the way that they price rooms--i.e., putting a large premium price on weekends. Someone reported being quoted $1100 per night for 2BR just a few days back.

Here's the deal. Disney has not released 2008 prices. So if you call the CM look up gives them the HIGHEST price in 2007 as an estimate. So for Holiday Season apparently if you call Disney and book a 2 BR BWV it's $1,100 a night.

Until Disney does do the release no one knows what the 2008 prices will look like.
