I was just wondering how many people have stayed at nearly every WDW resort?? If so which is your favourite?

My list of ones I'd like to stay at get longer and longer :)

If you don't count the DVC resorts (Old Key West and Saratoga Springs), I've done *almost* all of them. The only ones I'm lacking are Boardwalk, Yacht/ Beach, and GF. I'd love to do one of the Epcot resorts one day (I've stayed at the Swan/Dolphin), but haven't gotten around to it. No desire, really, to try GF.

I have to say my favorite was the old Contemporary.... haven't seen the new renovations so I'm a little unsure about it right now.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is a close, close second-- but only with the savanna view!

I also have a soft spot for the cabins at Fort Wilderness.

I'm "almost" there too! We still haven't stayed at All Star Sports, POR, CBR, AKL, and Yacht/Beach Club.

We had a Christmas stay at Grand Floridian - which was absolutely gorgeous and we loved it!!! Wilderness Lodge was also a favorite for us! My youngest DD would definitely say her favorite is Boardwalk Inn for that clown slide!! She had such a good time there!!!

We almost stayed at AKL for our upcoming visit, but I got a little nervous with the construction and switched to CSR. So, maybe for our next visit, we'll try AKL.

I don't really have any warm, fuzzy thoughts for All Star Sports or for the Yacht/Beach Club. But I want to try them one of these days.....

We've stayed at all the deluxes except for GF. So out of the resorts we have stayed at, BC is our favorite. Reasons:

1) ability to walk to endless restaurants (YC, BW, Swan/Dol, Epcot).
2) ability to walk to Epcot and walk/boat to MGM.
3) can watch Illuminations each night without even entering Epcot.
4) boardwalk is a few-minute walk away.
5) rent surrey bikes and gorgeous ride around the lake.
6) movies on the beach at night.
7) Beaches & Cream for ice cream by the pool each night.
8) Cape May character breakfast.
9) beachy, bright, cheerful atmosphere.
10) sandy-bottom pool is great for young children.

OK counting my family as well we've stayed at almost all of them. The only ones we haven't managed are Caribbean Beach, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge and Saratoga Springs oh and Fort Wilderness although we look at booking a cabin there for a night every year and never get round to it.

Value Resort
Pop Century is great for adult parties as its a bit more quiet (as is All Star Music) but I do have a soft spot for All Star Movies. Really don't like All Star Sports but then not in to Sports

Moderate Resort
Personally I love Port Orleans Riverside as its so easy to get everywhere from here and has a really relaxed atmosphere. Coronado springs is too out of the way and a bit more conference-ish. French Quarter just seems a bit less green than Riverside.

Deluxe Resort
Love Animal Kingdom Lodge for the views over the Savanah. Wasn't impressed by Grand Floridian as it was just not really what I expected from such a high class resort. Polynesian is nice and has great views. Beach club and Yaucht club are great for access to MGM and EPCOT. Broadwalk is OK but no view from the rooms really as most face over car park.

Home Away From Home
Old Key West is really lovely. It has a fishing village feel about it that always makes you feel happy. Have done the tour of Saratoga and it looks fantastic.

Non-Disney
Swan and Dolphin are in great location and have a lovely Lagoon pool but are both very conference orientated. Not stayed at any of the Downtown Disney hotels yet.

All Star Sports--We stayed there three times. On one trip during the off-season when it was brand new it was basic but clean, and pretty quiet. Two subsequent trips we found it incredibly noisy, filled with out of control youth groups, and in disrepair.

Port Orleans (Frech Quarter)--we liked the compact size and food court. We miss the balcony, and hate double beds.

Yacht Club--We weren't terribly impressed, we had some service issues there.

Beach Club--We've stayed there several times and have had mixed experiences. one time the room we were checking into hadn't been cleaned, and we got a real attitude from hosuekeeping about it. Another time we were given the crappiest room with no balcony that looked out onto the back of the facade.

Boardwalk Inn--We only stayed there once, we really liked it and always planned on going back, but never got there.

Wilderness Lodge--It was nice, but we've stayed at a lot of lodges that were very similar around the US and Canada.

Polynesian--We really loved the large rooms and the castle views from the Hawaii building. I don't know that we'd stay there in a non-concierge room.

Contemporary--We had a wonderful room on the 14th floor with a MK view. Service was spectacular. But overall we don't care for the theming at that resort.

Grand Floridian--Overall the rooms have been very clean, quiet, and comfortable. IMHO it's not worth what they are charging these days. We've had some service issues there on a couple of stays, and ahve had others that were perfect.

Animal Kingdom Lodge--Spectacular. My only complaints are the rooms are a bit small, and the vanity area is ridiculously dark. But there is nothing like a savannah view room there.

Boardwalk Villas--Home sweet home. We own DVC there and just love it.

Beach Club Villas--We used to own DVC there, and were a bit disappointed with the small rooms.

Saratoga Springs Resort--We stayed there for one night sortly after it opened. It's really spread out, and food options seem limited. The villa was clean and comfortable.

Shades of Green--Nice location, you can walk to the Polynesian. Doesn't have all the same touches as the Disney resorts, but the rooms are huge and clean, and it's very welcoming.

DTD Hilton--Very nice, cean, comfortable room, great value on the dollar.

value - Pop Century

moderate - POR

deluxe - always a problem - too many favorites - WL, Polyn, BC

DVC - AKV, VWL and OKW (in that order)

the only ones I haven't stayed at are - CSR, POFQ - but definitely visited and paid for my brother and his family to stay there. when the kids were little wanted them to try that pool at POFQ. when they were older wanted them to try the pool at CSR.

and GF - no wish to visit or ever stay here - this hotel gets me the chills.
Although I do love to visit when it decorated in December.

Since 1996 I have stayed at all the resorts (except Shades of Green and DVC).

Did not like Swan or Dolphin - not Disney enough.

Going to the Yacht Club on Saturday - the location for the food and wine festival cannot be beat.

Hate all values and only stay there when forced. Think POP is the worst of the lot, All Star Music the best.

Like all the mods - Coronado is my fav, Port Orleans Riverside least favorite

Deluxe - AKL - ok but too far from everything, Love BC/YC, GF and the Wilderness Lodge

I haven't stayed at them all but that's my plan!! So far I've done Contemporary, Poly (but I don't remember it - I was little), Grand Fl., Boardwalk, Beach Club, treehouses and Coronado Springs. I love Boardwalk when it's adults only trip, Contemporary with kids and I was pleasantly surprised with Coronado Springs. I was nervous to stay a a mod. for the first time but we really enjoyed it! I think we're headed to Wilderness this spring and can't wait to add another resort to my list!

The only deluxe we have not stayed at is the Contemporary. We have also stayed at ASM.

I like the Boardwalk the best. The pool is to big that you cannot keep track of your kids like YC & BC. It is very close to Epcot where we like to eat most of our TS meals. The board walk has the most choice of dinning on location for all the resorts.

We are doing our first moderate this Christmas with a grand gathering of my family. :santa:

I have a goal of staying at all the resorts.

Thanks for your replies! :yay:

My current tally is only 4: Treehouse Villas, Disney Inn, Dixie Landings and POFQ so I have a long way to go!

Think next year will depend on who I go with - parents want to say at AKL, but if I go with DBF might try Poly..... or Wilderness Lodge..... or Contemporary...... or Broadwalk..........

And that's without watching the vacation dvd :rotfl:

Wow-great question! DH and I keep saying that we would like to try all the resorts - we also have a long way to go! It's great to hear opinions from those that have stayed in almost all of the resorts. I'm sure each resort has something appealing to someone - you just have to find the ones that are right for your family. So far, we loved BWV the best - the location, eating breakfast at the bakery while sitting by the water, watching fireworks from our balcony. The kids loved the pool, especially the clown slide. And the decorations in December are beautiful (as are several of the deluxe resorts).

That's our goal - to stay at every resort at least once...we have a long way to go since we have only done All Star Music, and Contemporary and will stay at AKL next year.

How jealous am I that you stayed in the Treehouse Villas! So wish they still rented them out! Damn college programme getting to go over there and stay.

You really aren't missing anything. They haven't been refurbished since they were built, and still have the Brady Bunch look going. I was in a couple of them in 1998 (I think) and they were pretty tattered and shopworn.

I've stayed at
Wilderness Lodge
Yacht Club
Beach Club Villas
Saratoga Springs
French Quarter(POFQ)
POP....

My favorite so far is Wilderness lodge.....so happy I bought
DVC there:goodvibes
Kerri

I'm getting close: all but Pop, GF and OKW. Pop's never going to happen (if I can help it!), and GF is highly unlikely, so I've got one to go.

I really don't have a favorite, though I like some better than others...

Value Hated all the All Stars. Too much noise, too little space, too hard beds.

Moderate - from best to worst
CBR - Beautiful grounds, clean room, theme works for me.
POR/AB section - Ditto the above
CSR - Beautiful grounds, but bad luck with stinky rooms and not a fan of the theming.
POFQ - Damp/smelly room, okay grounds/theming, no TS restaurant.
POR/Mansion section - Not a fan of the decor or theme

Deluxe/DVC - from best to worst
Poly - LOVE the theme, immaculate room, lots of food options, good pool, MK fireworks from the beach
SSR - Beautiful grounds (reminds me of home!), immaculate room, fantastic pool options, okay food
WL - My favorite resort theme for winter, not the best food assortment, never used the pool but enjoy looking at it, nice beach
CR - easy monorail access, LOVE the new room decor, good pool, not-so-great-parking, good food options
BC/YC - Room was just okay, really enjoy the lobby, okay food options, best pool EVER
BWI - Didn't really like the room decor, major mold problems in 3 rooms, don't love the food options, great location

I've stayed at 12 of them - 1 value, 3 mods, 5 deluxes, 3 DVCs - if you include the DVC resorts and FW. My favorites are the Poly & BC/BCV.

That is my goal, but I have a long way to go!
I've only stayed at All Star Music, All Star Movies, and Pop Century.
I think we are going to stay at All Star Sports next year, then I will have those all under my belt.

Then budget will dictate if we move up to moderates or not!!!!

We have stayed at every resort, and multiple times for almost all as well. Our favorite resort would probably be the Contemporary because, well, its the Contemporary:) While it may not have the amenities that some of the newer resorts have, its classic, and I love remembering my visits as a kid when we would stay there. 2nd favorite would definitely be the Beach Club for the same reasons that someone already listed earlier...
