Stay with Brown Derby or switch to Narcoosees?

We have a kids-free meal planned on the day we are doing DisStudios. At 5pm my kids will go off with their grandparents for supper at Sci-Fi & then Fantasmic and DH and I are going to Brown Derby. I thought it would be easier for my parents if we met up with them upon exiting the park and we'd travel back to the hotel together. HOWEVER! This is my and DH's only alone time during our trip. We also LOVE great food. Both the menus at BD & Narcoosees appeal equally. If we go by ourselves to Narcoosees we will obviously have more alone time & it sounds like it will be more romantic than BD. The most important thing above all though is that the food is good. If it is just a so-so meal it will ruin the night no matter the locale. I know that people have had good and bad experiences every place but any opinions on which to choose to increase our chances of "dinner-alone" bliss?!

I just love Narcoosee's the food is very good and it's the only place that has lobster... But it also a view of the fireworks if you are there when they go off. We have always had very good service there. I can not say anything of the bd cause I have not eaten there.

Narcoossee's!!!!! Best meal in my life! And that is the truth, whole truth, and nothing but the truth. My DH and I would probably never pay for our children to eat there but I would be there in minute if I had the chance.

Narcoossee's! We love everything on the menu and it's gorgeous scenery if you sit by the window!

We just came back and had meals at both. The food was fantastic at both, but I'd say that Narcoosee's has the edge simply because it is not in a theme park, and the romance of being on water and the grounds of the Grand Floridian. The service was also very good when we were there.

Narcoossee's, without a doubt.

It will require a little more doing (getting there from the Studios) and will require your parents to get the kids out of the Studios and into bed, but if you can make that work Narcoossee's is a much better meal.

Make it a real night out. Spend the evening walking around the GF, have a drink, and nice long dinner. Try and plan it for a night that has MK fireworks. The Electrical Water Pageant goes by the GF (right outside Narcoossee's) at 9:15. The two best, and most romantic, meals we've had at WDW in a long time have been at Narcoossee's....and we had the kids with us. We did have late enough reservations that we fed them before we got there and the two little ones slept in the stroller next to our table.

Brown Derby always was on our must do list, but the quality and service have fallen off in recent years. Not sure if you are on the DDP or not, but Narcoossee's is well worth 2 TS credits and Brown Derby is not.

Thank you everyone for your overwhelming response for Narcoosees. Now we'll see if I can work some mojo with Disney Dining! Wish me luck in switching!

We have ressies at Narcoosee's during our trip. Can I call and request a table by the window? Or, do we have to wait until we arrive for dinner to request this?

When I called just now to change to Narcoosees the CM said that any table requests must be made upon checking in for your ADR. I couldn't get a time earlier than 8:35pm for dinner but I figure at least we'll get to be there during the fireworks!
