Yes! Hoping everyone makes it through the storm without issue. My parents as well as my brother's family live in south FL (Ft. Lauderdale area) and are closely monitoring the situation to see if they'll need to evacuate. They may just go stay with family/friends on the west coast, but if it looks really bad, I've told them to just drive to me in Texas. Needless to say...I'm nervous.

Latest track has it getting closer to Orlando. 50+ mile an hour winds. Port Canaveral is shutting down Wednesday afternoon. MCO will likely have very few flights coming and going Friday.

that's what they did when we were there during a hurricane back in the 90's (the parks were opened late that day)
they moved all the guests staying in fort wilderness into the other resorts so they could ride out the storm in safety..

I came back to my room with a voicemail. Basically they are continuing to monitor the situation but WDW is operating normally and that rain n wind is expected Thursday evening. They will update us as things change

I just watched our local news and they are saying the storm will go over FL as a cat 4....so scary. Please, everyone in it's path, take this one serious and get out of the area if called for. Be safe and let us know you are ok.

They have begun moving people out of Fort Wilderness and plan to have it emptied by tomorrow. Word is that the bungalows and the treehouse villas will be evacuated next as a precaution.

I'm super confident WDW will do all it needs to do to keep their guests as safe as possible. I would have absolutely NO problem being an overnight guest there through this storm. (And I'm quite sure the hotels @ Universal will do the same).

Word from Ryan over in the rumors forum is that Universal isn't offering refunds or transfer to those calling. I'm sure guests currently there will be safe, but it is a bit ridiculous of them.

Universal hasn't announced anything yet. Some guests are calling in about events and refunds or transfers and universal said they plan to be open so no transfers or refunds.

When I was at All Star Sports last week, I noticed that those buildings are like concrete bunkers. I'd have no problem booking a room at an All Star or at POP if I lived in the area & wanted a safer spot to hide in. Only problem is that there is no indoor access to a restaurant but to be fair, CMs shouldn't have to risk their safety on the roads during a storm just to feed guests. After having a good look at some of the WDW properties, I'd be relieved to be in one of the Value resorts b/c of the construction.

Stay safe everyone! Hopefully it ends up being nothing but it is always best to be ready for the worst when a hurricane might cause serious issues in your area. Landfall is not needed for high winds and bands of rain to cause significant issues.

we were there for the hurricane back in the 90's that closed the parks...or rather, the parks didn't open in the morning..
WDW was totally amazing at how organized they were for the approaching hurricane and during the hurricane..
they of course moved everyone in fort wilderness to the other regular resorts (that are all built to withstand the winds)..

and they moved and tied down everything that could move in advance of the storm..

that year, it was just DD, DS and me (DH couldn't come with us that year)..
we were at the all star music (for 3 glorious weeks)..

the CMs removed everything from around the pools...they didn't just tie down the chairs, they actually removed them...everything was gone the day before the hurricane hit...
i didn't see the workers removing stuff, but it was gone....i guess they have elves that come out at night..

they told all the guests to stay in their rooms....which we did..
all through the night they kept updating us with pertinent information..
i was never scared even for a second, the CMs were so amazing...

and after the hurricane, there was a lot of damage all over WDW - trees down all over....
but they moved to clean it up so fast it was unbelievable....super quick...armies of workers cleaning up everywhere...
and bringing back all the stuff that had been taken away (to wherever they take it all too)..

they definitely are organized for hurricanes!!!
