Hey all-

We are heading back to Disney in January after an awesome trip this past January! I will be able to book my plane tickets this week (when southwest finally gets around to releasing them) and then its time to decide where to stay. We stayed at the Poly last time and had a great time and that was during construction so I know it would be even better this time :)But do we do that again or change it up? We want to be at a monorail resort. Its so nice to not need buses all the time. I am not a fan of the Grand (plus its prices are usually higher) so that leaves the Contemporary. Any thoghts?

I struggle with this question all the time! I've never stayed anywhere but the Wilderness Lodge because we just can't pull the trigger and book somewhere else, we love it so much! But, with my kids getting bigger, needing more room, and the impending DVC construction, I know we'll be booking somewhere else for trips in the next couple of years. Our next "for sure" trip (after our upcoming one) is December 2016, and we're torn between Boardwalk (what I want) and the Yacht Club (what the kids want), because we want to branch out, and we want the daybed.

You can't go wrong with the Poly again, it's gorgeous. We spend a lot of time there because we love the food options. My kids are interested in staying at the CR, I love watching the monorail, but my DH doesn't really like the theming (which boggles my mind, as it seems right up his alley!).

How does your family feel? Do you have young children who like the pool? If you didn't get to use the Volcano pool last time, that could be a huge hit! I know January weather is hit or miss, but it's a really cool pool! On the other hand, that walk to the MK is very convenient from the CR. That combined with the monorail and the boat option is very appealing.

Good luck making your decision, I know it's a tough one!!

POR is our "home". We also have a hard time booking elsewhere. If we did it would be the Boardwalk area because Epcot is my favorite Park.

We've stayed at the Poly 4 times. It's our home away from home. We've deviated a few times, GF once, Beach Club once, WL once, Caribbean Beach once, Swan once, Off property once. Let me say that there's no place like home. To us the Poly is by far the most enjoyable and relaxing (which is what we need the most in that hectic place - WDW). I'd say, if you enjoyed it the first time, stay there again.

We've never stayed at the CR, but friends have. They say that 90% of the time they walk to the MK. It's a relative short walk that turns pretty long, especially at the end of the day when you're worn out from towing kids and standing in line all day, and there's a long line to get on the Monorail. In all of our times of visiting the CR, relaxing is not the word that comes to mind when we've consider staying there.

Hard to say. Have you ever stayed anywhere else on property? If not, I'd encourage you to try CR b/c it's wonderful. You'd be sure to have a great time and then you could compare the two for yourself.
It took me years to branch out (stayed at GF for about 10 years straight; then tried AKL and fell in love; and have now stayed at every Deluxe). It's fun to know the resorts for yourself:boat:

But if your "gut" is telling you to stick with the Polynesian, then do that.

Good luck deciding.:disrocks:

In the past, we tried to stay at someplace different every time we went. It added a little excitement to our trip.
But since we plan to buy into DVC in the future, we have decided to try all DVC resorts and get a feel of what we like best.

I am always a change it up vote. It adds to the vacation and it lets you say yea I went back to WDW but I stayed at a different Resort.

I like to try new resorts. I usually stay at mods but I stayed at the Poly once and would love to return. My DH wants to stay at GF. If a deluxe was in our budget now and I was looking at mk resorts, I'd honestly choose WL. I think though, of the 3, I'd personally go back to POLY.

We've changed it up a few times. We love the CR/BLT. We've stayed at GF a few times and AKL, but we always come back to CR/BLT.

We have never stayed at the same place twice. It makes each trip feel fresh and we have enjoyed different things about each resort.

I find it hard to change resorts, especially when your family had such a great time at the one you've stayed in previous, but I force myself to do it (yeah, I really twist my arm lol). We stayed at the CR for our trip last April (2014) and my family loved it. My boys love the monorail so we were in the same boat as you, wanting to stay on the line but change it up so we are doing Poly this trip. I think you'd be pleased with the CR. The views are really incredible and it's nice to have everything in the same building. Plus the monorail running through it is just so, SO cool.

We've also stayed at CBR twice, POR - Riverside and the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. They were all fun for different reasons, and I didn't find bus transportation bothersome at all, in fact when the kids were younger they'd take power naps on the Disney buses. Seems every resort is kinda close to something.

I have been to WDW with my family 12 times in my 17 years because my parents are DVC members and there home resort is The BoardWalk. We love the BoardWalk so much we have stayed there 7 times out of the 12 times I have been. We just can't go wrong with the resort and know we are going to make many magical memories while we are they. That being said though the other 5 times I have been to WDW and was old enough to remember the resort I thought it was also fantastic. I really don't think you can go wrong by going back to the Polynesian Resort or trying the Contemporary Resort. Have you also thought about Baylake Towers?
